Thailand Energy Transition Online Summit 2022

We all should believe Thailand has huge potential and will experience robust growth in renewable energy but except hydroelectric, which keep the line with its announcements towards carbon neutral goal in 2050 at COP26 climate talk.

Thailand also pro-claimed the plan including will put efforts on developing renewables in the power sector, with a non-hydroelectric renewable goals of 18.7 GW as the total capacity until 2037 that highly based on AEDP 2018-37, which means 37% of the power mix in 2037 will be formed as non-fossil fuel sources.

According to forcast, non-hydroelectric renewable installed capacity will surge from 9.7GW in 2021 to 17.2GW by 2030, equals to nearly 6.8% year-on-year growth.

This webinar will mainly focus on both opportunities and challenges that need to facing up on the way to path the energy transition in Thailand, how Solar would play as the key performer who typically generate electricity in the future, how policy and other type of players (floating pv etc.) developed in communities or metropolitan areas where people could have less worries about effecting agricultural activities.

Ørsted and BASF sign #25-year offshore wind PPA in
BASF and Ørsted have concluded a #25-year fixed-price corporate power purchase agreement ( ), under which BASF will offtake the output of #186 megawatts from Ørsted’s planned Borkum Riffgrund #3 Offshore Wind Farm in the German North Sea.
The offshore wind farm will have a total installed capacity of #900 megawatts and go into full commercial operation in 2025.
“This supply agreement with Ørsted is another important step in securing additional renewable energy for BASF,” says Dr. Martin Brudermüller, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE.
Mads Nipper, CEO of Ørsted says: “In the common fight against climate change, it’s partners like BASF that will make the difference.”

needs more investment to achieve offshore capacity goal
South Korea requires more aggressive investment in renewable energy sector in order to achieve its offshore wind capacity goal by #2030, a latest report has indicated.
“South Korea looks set to struggle to meet its ambitious renewable energy target of of installed offshore wind capacity by #2030 without significant investment and buy-in from heavy industry leaders,” the report read, adding that Korea must bank on the development of floating offshore technology.
"(Korea) must boost investment in power grid infrastructure by around #50 percent over the next #10 years in order to achieve sustainability in line with the net-zero gas emission goal,” Bum-Choong (Bob) Kim, PhD, partner at Ernst & Young Han Young, commented.

Ignitis grupė to acquire solar projects portfolio in
Ignitis Group is expanding its operations in Poland, where it will acquire companies developing solar projects portfolio.
Ignitis Renewables in the near future will conclude a conditional agreement to acquire #100% of the shares of the Polish companies that are developing solar projects portfolio in Poland. Estimated total investments amount to around EUR #50 million.
“Poland is one of the priority markets of the Group, where we plan a consistent expansion and are constantly looking for attractive Green Generation projects that have potential. ” said Darius Maikstenas, CEO of Ignitis Group.

to construct submarine transmission line to connect with
Chile is considering constructing a new submarine transmission line to connect the Andean country with Asia.
Chilean President sebastian piñera announced that the government was looking into such a project during a meeting with local investors. The project will be called Antípodas.
It has been reported that the "objective would be to help those countries slash #1.6Mt/y (million tons per year) from their emissions, roughly the emissions reduction equivalent of installing of clean generation."

RWE unveils #€50bn investment plans for #2030 renewable energy goal
The renewable energy company RWE has unveiled #€50bn investment plans to scale up its #2030 goal for renewable energy.
It includes offshore and onshore , , , flexible generation and to from earlier.
RWE chief executive Markus Krebber stated that with the investment and growth strategy, the company is stepping up the pace and investing #€50bn gross through to #2030. “This will help us to expand our powerful, green generation capacity to .‘’

Innosea has joined as technical advisor for one of the world’s largest floating solar photovoltaic ( ) projects, to be built at the Nam Theun #2 hydropower plant reservoir, Laos.
The FPV project envisages the construction and installation of a #240 MWp floating solar plant covering an area of about #3.2 square kilometers, at the Nam Theun 2 hydropower station, Laos.
Benoît Brière, Senior Project Manager of Innosea said : “Energy clustering of solar with hydropower is believed to potentially boost electrical output of existing plants by #10 percent, without occupying land space. ”

's EIDF Solar aquires #75 MW portfolio projects
EiDF Solar has acquired several projects for a global capacity of #75 MW to expand its Generation pipeline and strengthen this business division. Its current pipeline stands at #860 MW.
The parks are located in Catalonia, Murcia and Navarra. The price of the purchase transaction was #€3M.
The forecast is to put into operation by the end of #2021 and the beginning of #2022 farms for an approximate capacity of #50 MW.

Vena Energy completes projects in
Vena Energy announced the commercial operation of the #37 MW “ ” Solar Project, nestled in the foothills of Kawakami village. With this achievement, Vena Energy has also crossed the milestone of #500 MW in operating capacity across Japan.
The Kawakami Solar Project consists of more than #89,000 bifacial photovoltaic solar panels spanning #49.87 hectares. The project is capable of providing clean, renewable energy to over #10,000 Japanese households annually.
“With its completion, Vena Energy now operates a total of #26 solar and wind projects totaling #516 MW across Japan.” said Juan Mas Valor, Head of Vena Energy Japan.
