I promised to come back with my thoughts…with over 21k 4.7 star reviews - I agree, this was an easy, excellent read on actual past life accounts in psychiatric sessions. I’ve read several books on this topic, but found “Many Lives Many Masters” by Brian L. Weiss, M.D. to be an easy and compelling read. If you like this sort of thing, I highly recommend. Goal Setting should never end! What do you think? “Like” this post if you agree that some sort of goals help us navigate life.

I have learned over my 52+ years that having a visual list of goals provides a sense of: purpose, direction & accomplishment in my life. These fundamental needs do not diminish with: age, our point in career, life or physical ability. Just setting the right mindset each year, week, day - can make all the difference in our overall outlook and emotional well being. To often (especially for aging moms) as we move through our busy or not so busy days we lose our focus on what is important, on our value to contribute, and on our place in life. This can create an environment of poor mental and physical health and a lack of self worth. I refuse to let aging or my life’s changes stop me from having goals. This year I found myself deeply retrospective.

Over the holidays I re-read 2 thought provoking books that facilitated my goal setting. “Journey of Souls” by Michael Newton, PH.D., was recommended to me years ago by a friend’s mom, in her late 70’s. (Actually on a New Year’s Eve). I have gone back to this book numerous times and find it extremely thought provoking. The 2nd book “The Seat of the Soul” by Gary Zukav is a NY Times best seller and was on Oprah’s list years ago. I have read it countless times. As an aging individual, I find the concept outlined in both reads to be compelling. (I am an Amazon Influencer and do earn small commissions at no additional cost to you. ) At a minimum, no matter your age, I highly encourage you to set aside a little time each day for self-care: Read, workout, walk in nature, eat real foods - do the things that make you happy. “Like” this post if you’re with me - trying to get back in the groove after the holidays.

Simple - SMALL steps make getting back on track—or starting a healthier regimen much easier. After enjoying friends, family & downtime I am eating right, exercising and practicing self care!

My DAY Includes:
Hydrating and counting water intake
Keeping food and drinks Clean & Whole
Tracking food and macros
AM first thing - 20 Minutes Light cardio
PM
1 minute plank
100 squats
20 pushups
60 crunches
Stop eating 2 hours before bed
Detox tea or hot lemon water with cinnamon, cayenne and ginger
Some form of self care (like red light therapy), facial masks And journaling.

Hang in there and make 2024 the best year yet!

Two of my holiday favorites are on HUGE Discount now. This beautiful red sweater is a luxurious staple to wear all winter, and the silky, satin jumpsuit is just perfect for a formal event. Things not going according to plan? Give me a “like” if you’ve ever had a day where nothing is checked off of your to-do list ❤️Stress management is equally important for overall health as eating right and exercise. How we manage our daily aggrevations can have a tremendous impact on our overall health and longevity. I’ve come up with mindful techniques to visualize the problem going away. I do quick all over exrcises to release the tension; and I make sure to fuel my body with the healthiest of foods on these days. I’ve found for me it helps. Midlife comes with lots of stress at times - let’s manage it!

Does this sound familiar? No time. If so tap to “like” ❤️ I believed there wasn’t time - not so long ago. I pushed myself to do a plank every day and that practice evolved. If you can incorporate one healthy thing- a plank- for one minute every day - only 1 minute! You will start a healthy practice and strengthen your core, back, arms and legs while building better balance and a mindset of self-care. 1 minute can work wonders! Give it a try. You can do this anywhere - on the floor, on a wall, at the edge of a bed or kitchen countertop and it’s FREE. Leave me a comment if you give it a try. I would love feedback. Did you know skipping meals and limiting calories too much - especially during midlife- will often produce the opposite of desired results? This can cause insulin and hormone issues that lead to fat storage instead of weight maintenance or loss. Today’s quick lunch was super easy and delicious. A gluten free, shredded chicken wrap made with Greek yogurt instead of Mayo and a little ground mustard. My wrap is packed full of arugula which contains fantastic antioxidants and fiber. It’s Low on carbs and calories. I topped it off with broccoli sprouts which contain sulforaphane, a component that is touted for its ability to fend off cancer. Broccoli sprouts also aid in gut and intestinal health. I wanted potato chips with my wrap but opted for a little healthier crunch and extra fiber from popcorn. Healthy calories are always better than no calories. What do you have for a healthy lunch? Leave me a comment- I’d love some new ideas. 🌱

Ever feel like you need a reset with your health & fitness? That’s exactly what I am doing. I am halfway through 2 weeks. I’ve mixed up my workout by increasing weight and lowering cardio activity slightly. I’m focused on clean, low sugar foods with some extra protein to supplement - all the lean meats & vegetables I’m consuming. I’m watching my macros and having carbs, fats and fiber too. So far I’m feeling great, my skin looks good and I see a difference in my muscle mass already. If you feel in a “funk” or like you’re not meeting your goals, with your workout routine, DON’T give up. Struggling with your fitness goals, like me? I posted recently about my schedule and how I slipped into a routine of more heavy cardio and less weights. My food drifted to a lot more “quick grab” items with less macro balance. As a result I lost some muscle and noticed a little flab drifting in (which happens so much easier mid-life). This week I am doing something about it! 💪🙌 I am starting a “reset” & changing up my entire routine - food, fitness, all of it. This week I am focused on meals made of real food, lots of vegetables and lean meats and proteins. I am adding lots of extra protein where I can with bars, collagen and more. I am upping my weight lifting and backing off of my cardio. Also, fruit is important long term, but I am limiting it this week to watch my sugar intake. Sometimes our bodies need more cardio, sometimes less. The same goes for strength training & weights. Sometimes we need to strength train more and sometimes less. It’s so important to be in-tune with ourselves and the needs or our body & mind. Self-care should always be a priority. If we care for ourselves we can do everything better.

On this Self-Care Sunday Use Pantry Staples for Beautiful Summer Hair and Skin: Combine lemon juice and aloe to make a glowing pre-shower skin mask. Leave this combination on for 15 minutes and scrub off. It works to brighten skin, peel away dried areas and reduce sun spots all while softening your summer skin.
