Let's Talk with Sanctuary Let's Talk with Sanctuary is a podcast for women, specifically women in ministry and in leadership.

Let's Talk with Sanctuary is a podcast for women, specifically women in ministry. It's our firm belief at Sanctuary that isolation is the Number One tool that the enemy is using to take down women in leadership. Through this platform it is Sanctuary's endeavor to open the conversation with off-limits topics, share some love, laughter, and encouragement, and inspire more authentic conversation among ministry wives.

Early voting is open, the gloves are comin’ off, and all kinds of “information” will be flying through the airwaves and internet barrages. Somewhere in the mix is Truth and it is the responsibility of every (legal) voter to do the research, pray, and vote according to God’s Word.

In case you’ve seen the “look what our church did for us” posts and you’re struggling this afternoon because the ministry or church you have given your life to hasn’t exactly shown up with the appreciation parade this year—hear us at Sanctuary: Thank you.

It’s okay if it hurts your feelings.
It is even okay if you are a little (or a lot) frustrated.
But the greatest reward is yet to be received.

We see you. He sees you.
Well done—good, faithful servants. 💗

It’s been studied, researched, and proven: technology has sped things up when it comes to parenting, teaching, and pastoring today’s children. Topics that once were saved for later are now required topics to address, both in the home and through the local church. In today’s episode we welcome Kids Min expert Brian Dollar, whose tenure in children’s ministries and Next Gen ministries overall speaks for itself. The breadth of his insights on how to train up this generation to be lifelong followers of Christ should be valued by every church ministry leader and parent. Take a listen as host Bridgette Tomlin opens up a myriad of topics such as what to do with tech, the gender identity crises this generation is facing, Biblical illiteracy, AI, and so much more!

“Several years ago, I woke up on Christmas morning to find myself completely empty.

I had poured everything out to make it through the marathon month of holiday parties, staff appreciation gifts, kids programs, special candlelight services, and family traditions. The burnout was so real that by the time my parents arrived from out of state to celebrate with us, I couldn’t even host them. My body had given out - I was physically sick, depressed, and had no energy to take me into the new year.

After recovering, I remember thinking ‘I can’t let that happen again!’“

Pastor’s wife is writing for us again this year as we gear up for another holiday season just around the corner! If you find yourself already bracing for the next 60 days, this piece from Ashley—a girl who has done that, took time to recover, and decided to never do it again—will encourage and empower you to Fight the Holiday Hype!

At Sanctuary, we are taking an opportunity today to say “thank You” to our Lord and Savior for His many servants who give so sacrificially each day of every year. For those who keep saying “yes” when they truly want to quit. For those who love God’s people, even when they use and abuse God’s chosen leaders. And for those who give and keep giving, even when it feels like there’s nothing left to give.

We are thankful for you, dear friend. And on the days when you feel that no one else gets it, may the sweet Holy Spirit remind you once again, “You’re not alone. You can find your people at Sanctuary.”

So, take a deep breath today and require your heart and mind to look back over this past year, laced with grace, loaded with hardship, but laden with His provision and His presence, and remember: great is His faithfulness.

When it comes to what we can be thankful for, at Sanctuary, you’re at the top of our list. Happy Ministers’ Appreciation Month!

If you’re discipling someone according to Scripture, you are fulfilling the Great Commission. There were no specifications on your quota, except “go and tell all you have seen”. Let go of the cultural pressures to do or be anything more than Jesus instructed you to do or be. Jesus did His best work with just 12 (true) followers.

Naturally, you may be looking for an off-ramp from the challenging situation, culture outrage, community uproar, or family ordeal you’re currently facing. “How can I just get out of the middle of this?” Sometimes there’s an easy-way-out, but typically there’s a harder-way-through, loaded with life lessons, grit-growing, + strength training as you lean into the Lord and stand on His Word.

It may not get easier by tomorrow, but you’re going to get better at it each day. Keep trusting. Move forward. One step at a time.

You’ve got this.

Parenting children while simultaneously fulfilling all the weighty duties of work, the extracurricular activities, and meeting needs of extended family can be quite challenging, to say the least. Adding the layer of special needs, and the list of variations as diverse as the children who wrestle with them, can produce stress, fear, worry, and so much more on the parents who are just trying to fulfill the call of God on their lives. This episode features a panel of Special Needs Mommas, including Kayla Bates, Chelsea Brummett, and Barbie Harris, and LTS host Bridgette Tomlin, as they discuss the rigors, highs, lows, and joys of parenting children with special needs. We talk about what it looks like to minister to families with special needs children within our communities and through the local church. They also highlight the unique challenges that being in ministry brings into the mix! Find Episode 93 on your favorite streaming platform this weekend!

We continue to lift up the staggering number of victims from the string of devastating storms that have occurred this year. Take a moment to pray even now and share this to your own feed as a reminder to your community. Let’s not forget. Let’s keep praying, supporting, and giving.

“Over the the summer I accompanied my 19-year-old daughter to her annual eye exam with a new optometrist in the area while she was home from college. Dr. Bush was thorough and practical, giving Bonnie some clarification on the evolution of an eye dysfunction she has battled for over ten years. Before the appointment was concluded, Dr. Bush asked about her tech use and how many minutes she typically reads each day. He urged her to incorporate the 20-20-20 rule into her daily habits.

Dr. Bush didn’t say, “Quit looking at screens” or “read less each day”. He merely reminded Bonnie that a frequent reset would allow her to continue to do those things that she needed to do each day, and even enjoyed as a pastime.

I couldn’t help but parallel this concept to the daily grind—the lifestyle that most of us live as women, and undoubtedly as women in ministry.”

Don’t get frazzled. Don’t get flustered. God isn’t wringing His hands, wondering what’s going on or what will happen tomorrow, next year, or in 10 years. Don’t allow your heart to become anxious. Require your heart to be prayerful.

“To get nations back on their feet, we must first get down on our knees.”—Billy Graham
