It is that time of year where we announce that we have finished our publishing cycle for this year so its time for us to sign off. But don’t fret for we wont be gone long and we shall be back March 2024! Before we go we have three pieces to leave you with so you can ScratchThat itch once more.

Alright, alright, alright, we have one sleep to the official ScratchThat Emotion 2024 Spring Zine, and we wanted to make sure that everyone has secured their ticket for the event tomorrow night. Tickets are $10 for entry and $18 for entry plus zine.

The launch starts at 6pm and we have so much to see and do, from artwork, to live music, to readings from the zine. This is an event you do not want to miss. Get your tickets and we cannot wait to see you tomorrow!!

Readers for Launch
Introducing our readers for our launch on the 23rd of October! 🫶🏼✨🫶🏼

Reading their pieces published in our Emotion Spring 2024 Zine, these talented writers are going make you laugh, cry and have a good time.

E.L. “Loricia” Maloney (she/her) is a high fantasy novelist currently working on her hopeful debut. She aims to bring a balance to characterisation, plot, and worldbuilding in the epic fantasy genre. You can find her on Instagram and TikTok () for daily content or read her published pieces through ScratchThat and QUT Glass Media.

Maria Petropoulos (she/her) is an actor, theatremaker, dramaturg, content creator, and playwright based in Meanjin (Brisbane) and Naarm (Melbourne). She is passionate about creating impactful and emotionally evocative performances and art. Her upcoming credit as a performer and dramaturg in Crow’s Nest (2024).

Gabriella Chi-Collyer (she/her) is an emerging writer who is inspired by how she can construe the mundanity of life into writing worth reading. Her work follows diverse identities and cultures, and explores the uncertainty of never really knowing where she is going, and the stability of being more than okay with that.

Regan (he/him) is a first-year student doing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. He likes to paint, listen to music, and play with his cats, Tofu(ngus) and Dumpling. His cats (which are more interesting than he is) are feral little things which chew, scratch, and defecate on anything remotely valuable. Regan doesn’t mind though.

Special Guests for Launch
We are excited to announce some special guests that will be presenting at our Emotion Zine launch on the 23rd of October!

Our friends at Blatherskite will be showcasing their four amazing podcasts this semester. With so many styles and genres, there will be something for everyone!

Lecturer and author, Rohan Wilson will be announcing the winner of the Allen & Unwin Writers Prize and the recipient of the Kellie van Meurs Scholarship in Creative Writing.

Along with these presentations, our launch will be bustling with all things art - exhibitions, live music, zine readings and more! Grab your tickets in the linktree. 🫶🏼✨🫶🏼✨

Bonjour ScratchThat friends, just popping on to give a friendly reminder that our Emotion Spring 2024 Zine submissions close tomorrow! So get cracking and create either fiction, non fiction, or artwork for us to publish in print. We are so impressed with the submissions we have received so far and can’t wait to see what else you guys have up your sleeve.

Submission guidelines are:
-1000 words of written work
-1 page of poetry
-3 pages of visual media (art/photography)

Howdy ScratchThat friends 🤠This is your last chance to get published to the website! Our last callout theme is a doozy.

Cast your minds to the deepest darkest recesses of your psyche and picture all the times you have felt lonely, isolated and estranged… got the image? Perfect! Sum all of these feels up into one word - Alienation. Here’s a mood board as well that channels this emotion to inspire you. So go forth and create something that embodies Alienation.
