ITS OUT!

RMLP1, the debut album by Rainbow Maniac is no longer hiding away in Dropbox. It’s yours to be enjoyed!

This band were the reason I started this label and It feels like the best way to end this chapter.

And even better yet the band are getting back together just for tonight for an incredibly special gig at Clwb Ifor Bach with all the money going to the amazing Cardiff Dogs Home, The Rescue Hotel

I’ll be at the show later selling copies of the RMEP1 vinyl and some t-shirts for a big ole discount!!

Hey everyone, over recent months I’ve come to the decision that I’m going to have to stop Phwoar & Peace, at least for a while.

With the increasing cost of living I’m just no longer able to afford to run it anymore. Phwoar & Peace has always been a labour (label) of love, it’s never made enough money to cover the costs but I loved doing it anyway because of my love of working with great new bands and trying to help them grow. But due to having less money and time available to spend on the label it’s become a stress, not a love, and I’m feeling burnt out and overwhelmed. So I need to stop things for now, I’m not closing it for good as I would like to return to it in future so for now let’s call this the end of Phase 1…

Before I go however I will be doing one last release!

I started this label to release the incredible Rainbow Maniac’s RMEP1 and as a fitting bookend to this chapter I will be releasing RMLP1!

Before they split up back in 2020, Rainbow Maniac recorded what would be their debut album. But since then it’s just been sat there in Dropbox. Conor came to me last year asking if I’d be up for releasing it and of course I was!

People need to hear this fantastic album!

Ellis Thomas is a singer-songwriter from Cardiff. An unassuming character whose light acoustic folk music, deep emotional ingratiation and friendly presence on stage welcomes you in with a hug. Navigating themes of life, death and mental health: Ellis finds beauty in the darkness. Frightened Rabbit’s Scott Hutchison is a clear influence in his music, as well as more contemporary artists such as Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus. To date, Ellis has self-released 3 singles and played shows at Cardiff’s prestigious Swn Festival and a 2000 Trees festival tribute to Scott Hutchison.

These songs represent the birth of the band and we wanted to collate them in a congruent release to mark this point in the band’s journey. The songs capture every part of French Alps Tiger; from their fast paced, frenetic surf punk; to their slower, shoegaze-y jams.

Hello everyone! Popping out from my winter hibernation to share 22 for 22! 22 of our favourite Welsh albums from 2022. In alphabetical order as trying to rank these would be difficult and I’m not really sure what the point would be? They are all excellent albums!

I quite like at this time of year to look at other peoples AOTY lists and find albums I’ve missed and listen to them all so feel free to comment with any you think I should listen to. Or perhaps ones on the list that you missed and are gonna go check out yourself!
