Laos Ride 2023 - Day 16/16 (30 December 2023)

Today is basically back home ride. Left the hotel as early as 5 in the morning and by 3 PM back home to Seremban. What a fantastic 16 days ride covering 5800KM.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 15/16 (29 December 2023)

Todays ride is towards Hat Yai, last stop before entering Malaysia. Once reached we visited Suzuki Hat Yai and Triumph Hat Yai. Later in the evening we visited Bro Foo's friends house for dinner. They had prepared various local dishes for us. We also had a mini celebration for bro Foo's birthday.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 14/16 (28 December 2023)

This would be the longest ride from the trip covering about 680 KM. Target is to reach Chumphon. Took us 10.5 Hours to reach the destination. Later that evening we rode to Khao Matsee View Point to enjoy the sunset and coffee in the cafe (Thamsing Cafe) located up there.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 13/16 (27 December 2023)

Next 4 days are basically long trip down south to go back home. Todays destination is Nakhon Sawan. We reached quite early since left the hotel early. Had our lunch at a mall nearby. Today is brother Foo's birhtday. We have planned a surprise celebration for him. Celebrated his birhtday with cake ordered from hotel in the restaurant belongs to the hotel.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 12/16 (26 December 2023)

Today is border crossing day, our agent helped with the exit formalities at Laos and we are in Thailand in no time. We headed to Chiang Mai from the Chiang Kong border. Later that day we visited the night market in Chiang Mai and had our dinner at food street near the hotel.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 11/16 (25 December 2023)

Today we travelled to Xuai Xay which is a border town betwen Laos and Thailand. This also means that this is our last day in Laos. We went up the temple nearby which gives a nice view of the city plus the mekong river. Later that day we enjoyed the sunset along the river at our hotel restaurant.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 10/16 (24 December 2023)

Todays ride is towards Luang Namtha. We left early so that we can have more daylight and the distance is longer compared to previous rides in Laos. It was freezing cold in the morning. The temperature dropped till 6 Degree celcius at one point. Before heading to Luang Namtha, we stopped in Boten first. Boten is the borden town between Laos and China. Roads are pretty bad as usual but all our bikes managed to tackle it with ease.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 9/16 (23 December 2023)

Todays ride is heading towards Nong Khiaw. Another small but beautiful city. We left left from Luang Prabang as the distance is short. Later once we arrived we walked around the city for lunch and enjoying the scenic views from the city which is also located along mekong river. Later in the evening we hired a small boat to bring us along the river while enjoying the sunset.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 8/16 (22 December 2023)

Early morning we went up the Wat Sensoukharam temple to catch the sunrise. On this day we rented scooter to tour around the Luang Prabang. Also today we have Kerstin joined us for the day trip. She is a solo traveller from Germany whom we met in VangVieng. Our 1st stop was to Kuang Si Waterfall. The waterfally is so beautifuly as we can see from the picture. Subsequently we headed towards Pak Ou cave which is located at the other side of the town. We ended the by having dinner somewhere close to LP town.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 7/16 (21 December 2023)

Todays ride is heading towards Luang Prabang and can be considered the toughest ride for the trip despite the distance. The roads are pretty bad comprising or muds, poth holes, dust and rocky terrains. The bikes tackled the terrain with ease and also the 80/20 tyred helped big time. Road was better after the Kasi town and managed to stop at mountain cafe along the road. It was a scenic place to stop for coffee. Once done we headed towards our journey later had our dinner along the night market in Luang Prabang.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 6/16 (20 December 2023)

Today was a long day filled with activities around VangVieng. We started early in the morning to hike up the Nan Xay viewpoint. The view up there is so majestic and gorgeous. After lunch we headed for our ZipLine activities followed by 8 KM Kayaking along the Nam Songriver.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 5/16 (19 December 2023)

Todays ride will be to VangVieng. The distance is pretty short and we will be staying here for 2 days. Once reached the hotel we rented a scooter to move around the city. Later that evening we rode to Blue Lagoon 2 and settled down for a dinner at PullMind Cafe with a sunset view.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 4/16 (18 December 2023)

Today was an exciting day for us as we will be entering Laos via Nong Khai. After settling at Thai customs and immigration, our agent waited for us at the Laos side. He assisted with all the relevant requirement to enter into Laos and all was settled within 1 hours. For the next 8 days its gonna be right hand drive, at first it was a bit confusing but became normal within a short period of time. We checked in to the hotel and later in the evening walked around the city and looked for our dinner.

Todays plan to ride till Nakhon Ratchashima. Took us 8.5 hours to reach the city. Later in the evening we walked in the Bang Ta Lua Park and the city covering around 6.4 KM

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 2/16 (16 December 2023)

The plan today is to reach Prachuap Khiri Khan. We started as early as 4.30 in the morning and took us 10.5 Hours to reach the hotel. Later in the evening we climbed the Wat Khao Chong Krachok which is located up the hill which gives a great view of the town. Later we had our food in the night market located along the beach side.

Laos Ride 2023 - Day 1/16 (15 December 2023)

Today marks the 1st day of our 16 days ride venturing into Thailand and Laos. Plan for the day is to cross the border and ride till Hat Yai. Left home around 1.30 meetup with riding partner in RnR Dengkil and RnR Rawang. This year there were 3 of us. Foo, Mari and me. After 9H 43M we settled down in our hotel @ Sakura Budget Hotel Hat Yai.

2D1N ride to Kluang. Brother Adrian wanted to go back to his hometown to visit his mom and grandma.Since its raya holidays, I took the opportunity to follow him as well.Felt so blessed to meet them especially his grandma, who is 95 years old. Also thanks to his mom for hosting me in her place. We planned our route such that we shall take the old route to and from Kluang. The route on 1st day and 2nd we totally different so that we can cover more place during our trip. Managed to hike Gunung Lambak on the first of the trip and felt so good to do hiking after a long time. When coming back, Brother Sanjay joined us for the day ride. He rode all the way from PJ via highway and joined us for our ride back. This time, we took route via batu pahat > melaka and Port dickson. Had a good late lunch at PD Yatch Club, followed by a small but scrumptious dinner at Adrian's place.

After a long absence from hiking due to medical reason, managed to get the chance to climb up Gunung Lambak. This is my 1st time here and also 1st mountain for 2023. Even though its not as high as any other mountains I've climbed it gave a good test to my fitness level. Looking for more hikes to come in future. Thanks to bro Adrian for bringing me over for the hike and a stay at his place.

Day 17 / 17

Its the final day and time go back home. We left Hat Yai around 5 in the morning to avoid traffic. once crossed the border we was accompanied by 2 of our rider friend whom went back to Kedah and Perlis for voting. We stopped for lunch at Ipoh before proceeding home. If feels great to back to family after 17 days of continious riding.

Today is purely a riding day, nothing much to update. It is also the longest ride in this 17 days from Prahuap Khiri Khan to Hay Yai.

Day 15 / 17

We left the place with a big smile, such a nice place to stay. Today we ride towards Prachuap Khiri Khan. This is a small town by the seaside with few attractions to visit and one of is the Khao Chong Krajok. A temple up the hill with 396 steps, i did now climb it as its too much of stairs for someone recovering from sciatica. Kudos to brother Foo who made the climb. Once thats done we walk along the beach where there was a lot of food stalls and things being sold. That wraps up the day.

Day 14 / 17

This is one of the interesting day of our ride with lots of fun activites. We ride towards Ongsit Pier where we will be taking a ferry to cross the lake. We will have to ride off-road about 5 km before reaching the pier. The ferry ride took about 45 minutes, lucky there is shade for us to sit as the weather was hot. Once reached the othere side, we need to ride off-road again before reaching the maind road. We ride towards Khuean Srinagarindra National Park to check out the Huai Mae Khamin Waterfall. The waterfally was so beautiful. After exploring the waterfall, we ride towards our resort which Phu-Naphat Resort in Kanchanaburi. This is the most beautiful place we have stayed and also the most expensive one in this entire trip. Room per night is RM 170. Day 13 / 17

Today is pretty much just to ride and settle down at our hotel. We left Phitsanulok around 8 and reached Suphan Buri around noon time. We are also slowly heading down towards home.We took rest and wend for a walk in the evening for our dinner. This is a small and quiet town.

Day 12 / 17

We left early in the morning to ride to GOLDEN ROCK TEMPLE which is located not far from our hotel. Once settled, we came back to our hotel to Phitsanulok. On the way to the hotel we took a small detour to visit Khwae Noi Bamrung Daen Dam. The weather was scorching hot. At point it was showing 36 Degree Celcious. Once at the Dam i think i was suffering from dehydration due to extreme hot weather and probaly not enough water. We proceeded to the resort just to find that its close for renowation. We decided to proceed to ride another 60-70 km to the Phitsanulok city.

Day 11 / 17 MHS

Todays ride will be leading us to Wat Phra Phutthabat Pu Pha Daeng or also knows as Sky Pagoda. We have to ride at certain level and will have to hire a pick up truck to a base station up there. The road is so narrow that only 1 car can go at one direction at a time. All these are controlled by the Forest Department folks.From the base station you have to walk the stairs for another 800 metres to reach the temple. There are few temples up there you can visit and its so amazing how these are built so high up here. Such a beautiful temple and also the view from up there. Once done we proceed to ride for our end destination of the day which is Phrae. Please see the link below and the youtube video on how beautiful the place is.
