Independent young traveller wishing to give a chance to speak to inspiring people protecting the environment in Europe. The media already target this subject on a national scale but I believe we could all benefit from sharing commitment and ideas between countries :)
Interviews will be released under the form of a podcast broadcasted on all main platforms. It can be anyone, do not hesitate to get in touch if you want to participate or know people you would like to!

[Podcast's episode #3 teaser]
The third episode will be released this Sunday (April 9th)!
It will be available on Spotify, Apple and Google podcasts, Deezer, Amazon music and Stitcher.

In Ljubljana, Slovenia, I had the pleasure to meet Katja, Barbara and Jaka. They all work for the NGO "Ecologists without borders" to fight against waste. Their actions are very varied, from raising awareness on social networks, organizing zero waste workshops, to advising companies, municipalities or politicians.

Thanks a lot to them for accepting this interview, to learn more listen to the complete episode on Sunday 😉

Thanks also to my friend Claire Garrouste for her help with the editing! The music is free, it is called "Synthwave Vibe" by Meydän.

[Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺 1/2]
When I arrived in Budapest from Bratislava, I went out for a stroll to see the city at night 😊 The day after, I saw the St. Stephen's basilica and some beautiful architecture in the center.
I crossed the Danube to go to the castle bazaar, a little garden under the castle. Then I had not planned it but I visited an art exhibition in the Hungarian National Gallery on the Hungarian painter Vaszary and I loved it 🥰

In part 2/2 you'll see the rest of what I did in Budapest!

[Bratislava, Slovakia 🇸🇰]
After Vienna and Salzburg I spent one big day in Bratislava. The city is quite small but pretty, with colorful facades.

I walked around, saw the bronze statues it is famous for, climbed to the castle and saw the church of St. Elizabeth, one of the rare blue churches in Europe! I also visited the Jewish culture museum, learnt a lot and discovered portraits of famous Jewish women.
Finally, I ate in a traditional Slovakian restaurant with a girl I met at the youth hostel and we had a great time!

[Salzburg, Austria 🇦🇹]
I took an early train from Vienna to Salzburg as I had only one day to visit the city, which is Mozart's place of birth 🙂

I visited the Mirabell gardens, tried a Mozart chocolate (almond paste and pistachio inside, good but fat!), visited the Cathedral and the Residence museum, saw where Mozart grew up, the numerous shop's iron decorations and finally climbed on the castle's hill to have a nice view of the city.

It was very short, time flew by but I enjoyed Salzburg. It is small, cute, but with many things to see (I am a bit frustrated not to have had the time to go to the Mozart's museum, another time! 😅)

[Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹]
After Slovenia I spent 4 days in Vienna. I loved the city for its architecture and cultural richness (it's frustrating there are so many things to see and visit!)

I had a guided tour in the historical center, visited St. Stephen's cathedral, the Schönbrunn's gardens, the Belvedere museum, St. Charles church, attended a show of the Spanish riding school and hiked in the vineyards around the city!

But honestly what made me happiest was to meet so many different people at the youth hostel 🥰 Such a diversity of nationalities, life trajectories and personalities!

I am really happy to announce that the first episode of Meet environmental protectors will be released on Sunday, March 19th on all platforms! 😁

In Milan, Italy, I had the pleasure to interview Mrs Caterina Sarfatti, who is director of the Inclusive Climate Action programme at , a NGO where mayors from all around the world work together.

A special thanks goes to my friend for the sound editing! ❤️

Here are some pictures of hikes I did around Zabočevo, Slovenia.
It was often very steep, very good for leg workout 😂
I really loved the wild flowers announcing that spring is coming! ❤️

[Lake Bled, Slovenia 🇸🇮]
The day after visiting Ljubljana I took a bus and hiked around Lake Bled 🙂 It is a very touristic Slovene spot in summer, famous for its island with a church, but I almost didn't see anyone in February! I was very happy to see it in winter but would love to go back in summer to swim in it 😊

Next to the castle I came face to face with a deer, we stared at each other for second and he went away (I photographed only its tracks). Then I climbed on the hill to Mala Osojnica and the view was awesome. I ate a Kremšnita, which is a culinary speciality of the lake but it was really a loooot of cream 😂

[Italy 🇮🇹 ➡️ Slovenia 🇸🇮]
My boyfriend came back home on February 26th and so began my trip on my own. It is the first time I really travel alone, I was so excited! (and a bit scared). I slept at a youth hostel in Florence and then took a Flixbus to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, that I visited in one day.

The historic centre is entirely pedestrian, it's very comfortable to walk around without worrying about cars! It is quite small so in a few hours you have seen it all. The dragon is the symbol of the city. After walking around, I visited the castle on the hill. Inside there are a museum of Slovenian History and a museum of puppets 🙂
Finally, I ate dinner at the youth hostel with a nice German girl who had travelled 2 months on her own, it was pretty inspiring!

[A little Italian bonus]
We had the chance to be in Venice during the annual Carnival 😁 So here are pictures of some of the best costumes we saw, enjoy!

Italy 🇮🇹 3/3 : Murano, Burano and Florence. Murano is the closest island to Venice and a world-renowned gathering of talented glassblowers. There we attended a demonstration and learned that after been blown the piece has to stay all night in a oven to slowly cool down, otherwise if let in the open air it would explode in a few minutes! Then we walked around Burano, that looked like a smaller, more colorful Venice 😊

We ended our trip in Italy with Florence and its numerous museums! We spent 7 hours in the Uffizi and Academia galleries, visited the Opera del Duomo museum, climbed on top of the Duomo, crossed the Ponte Vecchio and enjoyed Italian food! 🥰

Italy 🇮🇹 2/3 : Verona and Venice. After Milan and the Côme lake we took a train to Verona. We visited the arena, the cathedral, the basilica of Sant'Anastasia, had the chance to see a carnival procession and of course went to Juliet's balcony! We had only one night there but we really enjoyed the city 😊
Then we stayed 3 days in Venice. We were really lucky because with our night tour tickets we were almost all the time alone in the Doge's palace! We also visited the Basilica San Marco, crossed the Rialto bridge, took the vaporetto (boat taxi) and spent a day walking around with my friend Zoë. It is crazy how everything is transported by boat, from delivery to waste! (there are only few bins in the streets as the binmen do door-to-door collection)
In the next post you will see Murano and Burano, respectively the islands of glassblowers and colorful houses, and finally Florence 😁

Italy 🇮🇹 1/3 : Milan and Bellagio. I left France on the 17th of February first for 10 days in Italy, travelling by train and bus with my boyfriend 🙂
I met my first interviewee in Milan right after getting out of the train. I am currently editing the episode, I'll do my best to broadcast it as soon as possible! We didn't stay there for a long time but enjoyed to walk around and to visit the impressive Duomo.
The day after we took a train, then a bus, to reach Bellagio at the Come lake. We enjoyed the soothing atmosphere but got a little lost climbing on the hill.
You'll see Verona, Venice and Florence in the two next posts!
