Mommy Emme 🥰

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Guess what airplane or airline is this? I already shared a reel for a similar plane.

Comment down below your guesses! Go back to my previous reels and look for it. 😁😆

This video was taken by yours truly at Thomas A Dixon Aircraft Observation Area. One of our favorite things to do is watch airplanes landing at BWI airport.

Don't forget to like, comment and share this video to airplane lovers. Follow my page for more fun and educational content.

Here's the result of my experiment to prove that engagement is indeed the key for your videos to be picked up by the algorithm. It's not a million views but I noticed a huge difference.

Take a look at Picture 1 - I posted this before going to bed last night. I did not do any kind of engagement on my page or my newsfeed. I did not share it to groups that I'm a part of. I just posted it and went to sleep. That's what POST AND GHOST means. 6 hours later it only gained 55 VIEWS.

Take a look at Picture 2 - I posted the same exact reel this morning with similar captions and the same hashtags. This time around I shared it to my stories, replied to comments on my previous posts, engaged with other content creators on my News Feed and Favorites and I shared it to all my groups. 6 hours later it gained 412 VIEWS.

I know it's not a million views but I just want to show you why engagement is truly important if you are just starting out as a content creator. Take some time to interact with other pages, join groups and be your own page promoter.

It takes time, it takes effort and it's a lot of work in order for us to reach our goals.

We can do this! Good luck to all of us!

One of our favorite pastimes is watching airplanes landing at Thurgood Marshall BWI airport. There is a park in Glen Burnie, MD where you can watch these airplanes landing.

The Thomas A. Dixon Jr. Aircraft Observation Area is a small park close to the runway. There are benches so you can sit and watch or spread out a blanket on the grassy areas. A small playground is also available but it tends to get crowded sometimes so my kids don't really play there. You also have the option to walk, bike or run the BWI trail. Make sure you come early since parking gets full quickly as this is a very popular park.

You can also logon to flightradar24.com to track the planes landing which includes the type of airplane, airline, flight number and place of origin.

Don't forget to like this post, share it with a friend and follow our page for more fun and educational content. 😍🥰

PHOTO DUMP - These pics were taken at the Chihuly Garden and Glass. It's a garden that features glass art works combined with the plants and flowers outside. There was a glass blowing demonstration outside the building but my son wasn't interested so we went for a little walk around the garden.

Find my son in the pics and give it a heart ❤

IKEBANA AND FLOAT BOATS - Here you'll see two of Chihuly's rowboat. The Ikebana boat has long flower-like glass stems inspired by the Japanese art of Ikebana. The Niijima floats were inspired by his trip to the island of Niijima and by childhood memories of discovering Japanese fishing net floats along the beaches of Puget sound.

I couldn't take a picture of both boats together since there were other visitors viewing this exhibit.

What do you like most about these glass artwork? What does it remind you of?

I took a lot of pictures of this one because it was my favorite. I hope you enjoy it like I did.

My photos don't give these artworks justice. You have to personally be there to see this beautiful piece 😍 This was my favorite out of all the exhibits.

SEALIFE TOWER - This 15 foot tower is inspired by the sea and Puget sound. The tower and vessels in this room includes forms of starfish, octopus, sea anemones, conch shells, urchins and manta rays.

There were sealife drawings in the room also but I didn't take pictures of it.

The Chihuly Garden and Glass is a museum in the Seattle City Center showcasing the studio glass of Dale Chihuly.

This visit to the art museum was my favorite part of our Seattle trip. It was absolutely amazing and unique.

My next series of posts will be mostly pictures I took at Chihuly. I hope you like it and enjoy them as much as I did.

Dubbed “The Loupe” (a reference to the magnifying devices jewelers and watchmakers use), the Space Needle’s rotating glass floor is located just below the open-air observation deck and replaces the original (nonglass) revolving floor that was a feature of the Space Needle’s restaurant when it first opened at the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair.

The restaurant closed in 2017. It was replaced with a lounge/wine bar open only from Fall through Spring. During the summer, visitors can walk, sit, stand or stretch out on the glass floor. You can view the elevator and the Space Needle’s architectural structure.

The mechanics of the rotating glass floor – or turntable – are also visible and include 12 motors and 48 rollers that can complete a rotation in varying lengths of time, from 20 minutes to 90 minutes in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.

Ayan humiga na ako sa rotating glass floor! Di naman ako takot eh 😅 🫣 Di ko alam kung ngingiti o mapapasigaw ako dito 🤣🤣🤣

The world’s first and only revolving glass floor is suspended and spinning – slowly – at the 500-foot level of Seattle’s iconic, 605-foot-tall space-age inspired Space Needle.

You can walk, sit, stand or stretch out on the glass floor and look down on the Space Needle's architecture. You can also see the mechanics that include 12 motors and 48 rollers. It can rotate clockwise or counter clockwise at varying lengths of time.

SEATTLE SPACE NEEDLE

The Space Needle is 605 feet (184 meters) tall and was once the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River.

The Space Needle's saucer-shaped top house was designed by John Graham, who also designed the country's first shopping mall.

Construction began on April 17, 1961 and was completed in a record 400 days, earning the Space Needle the nickname "The 400 Day Wonder".

The Space Needle was built as a cultural centerpiece for the 1962 World's Fair, which had a theme of "The Age of Space".

The Space Needle has an observation deck 520 feet (160 meters) above ground that offers 360-degree views of downtown Seattle, Mount Rainier, Puget Sound, and the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. You also get to experience the world's first and only revolving glass floor (more about this on my next post). The Space Needle's elevators can descend at 10 miles per hour, which is the same speed as a raindrop.

The Space Needle is built to withstand winds of up to 200 miles per hour and earthquakes of up to 9.1 magnitude.

Hoyt Arboretum is Portland's free botanical garden, conservation lab, nature education hub, and tree museum in Washington Park.

It is a living museum founded in 1928 to conserve endangered species and educate the community. The Arboretum is home to 2,300 species of trees and shrubs from six continents and has 12 miles of hiking trails. It is a place of beauty and serenity no matter the season.

Cam and I took the bus from the Rose Garden to the Arboretum but my hubby and Cal hiked the Wildwood trail for about 1.5 miles. The visitor center was already closed when we got there. There's an observation deck in the middle of the forest but there was a wedding being held there so we couldn't get on it and take pictures.

"FOR YOU A ROSE IN PORTLAND GROWS"

The International Rose Test Garden is a rose garden in Washington Park in Portland, Oregon, United States.

More than 10,000 individual rose bushes bloom in the International Rose Test Garden (IRTG) from late May through October, representing over 600+ different rose varieties. Roses bloom from late May to October depending on the weather.

New rose varieties are continually sent to the garden from many parts of the world and are evaluated on several characteristics, including disease resistance, bloom formation, color, and fragrance. It is the oldest continuously operating public rose test garden in the United States and exemplifies Portland's nickname, "City of Roses". The garden draws an estimated 700,000 visitors annually.

Interstate 84 (I-84) in the U.S. state of Oregon is a major Interstate Highway that traverses the state from west to east. It is concurrent with U.S. Route 30 (US 30) for most of its length and runs 376 miles (605 km).

It roughly follows the Columbia River and historic Oregon Trail in northeastern Oregon, and is designated as part of Columbia River Highway No. 2 and all of the Old Oregon Trail Highway No. 6; the entire length is also designated as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway.

Come along for a ride and soak in the beautiful views on this short road trip. These were taken on our way to Multnomah Falls from Portland, OR.

If you are driving along I-84 through the Columbia River Gorge you will see a famous building atop a cliff near Exit 22. It is perched 693 feet above the Columbia River and is part of the Crown Point State Scenic Corridor. This building is Vista House.

This viewpoint along Highway 30 was the site of the 1916 dedication of the Columbia River Highway, the innovative European-style road that traced a winding path through the perilous Columbia River Gorge, linking Portland and The Dalles.

Vista House opened in 1918 as a glamorous rest stop and observatory for those traveling the new highway. This “comfort station” was a rest stop like no other, featuring marble floors, stained glass windows — and, of course, a stunning view. You'll see the Columbia River and Washington State on the other side.

Architect Edgar M. Lazarus designed the building to be functional, beautiful and commemorative: the rest stop served as a memorial to the settlers who had traveled the final stretch of the Oregon Trail along the Columbia River. Inside, stone panels are carved with the names of settler families. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, the building fulfills Lazarus’s vision as a “temple to the natural beauty of the Gorge.”

The landmark will close when winds reach 50mph or more. The building is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We didn't get a chance to see the inside since we went on a Thursday afternoon so the building was closed. There's a museum and gift shop managed by volunteers on weekends.

Crown Point also marks the beginning of the "Waterfall Corridor" that features eight waterfalls along the historic highway, including Multnomah Falls.

I was so amazed by the scenery that I forgot to take videos and these were the best pics I have.

While we were visiting Bonneville Fish Hatchery in Cascade Locks, Oregon, we saw the longest freight train we have seen so far. I lost count of how many freight railcars it has.

This is the Portland Subdivision railway line in the state of Oregon in the United States. It is owned by the Union Pacific Railroad and runs 185 miles (298 km) from Portland, Oregon, to Hinkle, Oregon. The line runs east-west along the south bank of the Columbia River through the Columbia River Gorge.

The Rainbow Trout Pond at Bonneville Fish Hatchery is mainly for visitors who love to see and feed these very large fish. They do not raise trout for stocking ponds and lakes. You can buy fish pellets for 25 cents from the vending machines near the pond. Proceeds from fish pellet sales helps maintain the grounds at the hatchery.

It's free to visit Bonneville Fish Hatchery. Expect to spend about two to three hours here. There's a visitor center and a gift shop on site.

Bonneville Hatchery was constructed in 1909. In 1957, the facility was remodeled and expanded as part of the Columbia River Fisheries Development Program (Mitchell Act)—a program to enhance declining fish runs in the Columbia River Basin. The hatchery underwent another renovation in 1974 as part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' (USACE) mitigation of fish losses from the construction of the John Day Dam.

What to see and do: Display ponds offer a relaxing place to feed large rainbow trout and view adult white sturgeon measuring more than 10 feet long. There is a gift shop open all year. The visitor center has an informational video about the history of the hatchery and the work that they do in this facility.

We were able to see Herman the Sturgeon at the viewing center. The facility is surrounded by flowers and trees native to the area. I especially love the rhododendrons.

I'm glad our cousins recommended this place as part of our mini road trip. We learned something new and we enjoyed feeding the rainbow trouts too.
