🌪EF-2 TORNADO CONFIRMED IN GRAND BLANC🌪

With a path of 5.7 miles, the National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-2 tornado with likely winds of 115MPH.

This tornado did not cause any reported injuries or deaths which is a huge blessing, considering it struck in the middle of the night and in February, a time most people may not be prepared for such weather.

Debris was lofted as far as Lapeer County from this cell as it moved out of the area and the tornadic circulation died down.

SNOW RETURNING TO MICHIGAN - Thursday AM - PM Snowfall

Good afternoon everyone and Happy Valentines day!

Well folks, winter weather is scheduled to return here tomorrow in Michigan! Snow will be moving into the area in the early AM hours with snow picking up in consistency as the day breaks. At times, there is likely to be moderate snowfall rates causing roads to quickly deteriorate at times and cause visibility to be limited.

There's going to be some variability along the I-69 corridor when it comes to snowfall. We anticipate there to be some periods of rain and mixed precipitation. Areas south of I69 may see some periods of snow fall but we don't expect accumulations to stick due to rain mitigating whatever does fall on the ground. Surface temperatures also continue to be much warmer than typical.

Most of Central/Mid-Michigan can expect 3-6" of snow through the day. Just enough to make things pretty slick, especially during the periods of heavier snow. Snow will persist into the Eastern areas of the Upper Peninsula, with 3-6" possible in areas just north of the Lower Peninsula also.

We don't anticipate wide spread school closings with tomorrow's system but we can't rule them out either area wide - so be sure to take a look in the morning in your district!

This is another one of those systems that will require those on the rain/snow line to monitor in real time. A single degree or two one way or the other could be the difference between 1-3" and absolutely nothing.

We'll have additional updates into tomorrow!

FIRST SNOW FORECAST OF 2023-2024 SNOW SEASON:

Well folks, here we are again! Forecasting the white s*** across much of the area. The Upper Peninsula is seeing snow, in spots, MUCH more. Some areas already seeing up to a FOOT of snow as of the writing of this post.

We're expecting much of Lower Michigan to have a chance at seeing their first official widespread snowflakes tomorrow. While we've had a couple areas see brief mixes/snow showers, especially in Northern Michigan, we're expecting a larger swath to move through tomorrow later afternoon and into the evening. Trick or treating could be a bit gross in some areas! And those in southern Lower Michigan will get their first real taste of s*** tomorrow.

We're expecting flakes of snow, occasional gusty winds, and maybe some mix/rain as well to top it off!

Accumulations? Well, some of us will see a dusting at times before it quickly melts and parts of Western and Northwestern Michigan could see accumulations of about an inch or two, some seeing SLIGHLY more.

Many of us that see light accumulations should expect them to melt not too long after/the next day.

Stay tuned folks! Roads will likely be fine, some bridges and elevated surfaces could ice up. But by far and large, tomorrow's snow is just a warning shot for what's to come.

23/10/2023

A Marginal Risk for Severe Weather, primarily due to wind risks, has been introduced in Northern Michigan (LP into UP).

We've got several days this week where we may see some rumbles of thunder, starting with tomorrow and we will even likely see some days into the 70s for temperatures!

Rain and storms off and on through the day tomorrow, additional details to come in the morning.

Hold tight, Michigan.
