Bangladesh – In a shocking and distressing incident, law enforcement forces in Bangladesh were seen firing at students protesting against the government's quota reservation system for freedom fighters. The event, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, has sparked national outrage and drawn international condemnation.
The protests began peacefully, with students demanding a revision of the quota system that they argue is unfair and discriminatory. The system reserves a significant portion of government jobs for descendants of freedom fighters, which protesters claim to limit opportunities for the general population.
Thang-Ta Performance at Orange Festival Tamenglong 2022.
(Thang-ta is a traditional martial art from the northeastern Indian state of Manipur. It is part of the broader martial tradition of Huyen Langlon, which combines armed combat (Thang-ta) and unarmed fighting (Sarit Sarak). Thang-ta focuses on the use of swords (thang) and spears (ta), along with other weapons, and includes physical training, breathing exercises, and techniques for both offense and defense.
Thang-ta has cultural and historical significance, often performed as a form of dance during festivals and ceremonies in Manipur. It emphasizes fluid movements, agility, and precision, making it both a martial discipline and a performing art.)
