Monster Hunters (*Not Monster Hunter*)
Description: This movie was about a special Alien Military Unit that had a research facility. The research facility witnessed a crash from an alien ship. This crashed ship was an alien jail with the bad aliens being housed in it. Mission is to contain the alien crash, extract any alien artifacts found, and avoid civilian casualties. Protocol for failed mission is a nuke strike from space on the area affected by the alien tech.
Cast (🧀): Tom Sizemore (Blackhawk Down & Saving Private Ryan), Anthony Jensen (EDtv & Nazi Overlord), Connie Jo (Banditto & The Pining), and Mark Valeriano (Hornet & Street Survivor). Only one that people will really recognize is Sizemore who used to be a decent actor, but had issues with drugs and rehab that sent him spiraling into B and C movies trying to find work.
Plot (🧀): An alien prison ship crashes near an alien research facility ran by a secret part of the military that deals with Alien Research and Tech. Inmate aliens escape, kill a few people, and they get bigger and stronger as they eat people. The mother ship of this list convoy arrives to recapture their lost ship, and aren’t very friendly with the earthlings. Mission orders are for the alien unit to contain the situation, but when things get out of control the decision is to nuke the mother ship from a satellite housing nukes for attack and defense. It’s up to the unit on ground to find a way for the nuke to attack the mothership through their protective shield before it destroys earth saving its prison ship.
Enjoy (🧀): This movie started off ok fir about the first 5 minutes, and then the cheese 🧀 just kept coming. Lots of uniform issues, and editing issues caused this movie to just keep getting cheesier abs cheesier.
Suggest (🧀): I wouldn’t suggest this movie to others. Wasn’t very good.
Rewatch (🧀): One and done
Overall (🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀): Full cheese. Not much of anything else.
10th Review: The Forgiver
Description: Movie set in South Africa during the post Apartheid, after the country had a free election for all, and Mandela put Archbishops in place to offer amnesty for those who confessed of their human crimes against others; specifically the White South Africans (minority) and Black South Africans (majority). Security Police were responsible for brutal murders, and one of their high ranking members is sitting in jail and is debating cleaning his sole; Bloomfield was witness to numerous murders, and even responsible. A high profile case now sits in Bloomfield’s hands to help solve, but he must betray his people and can’t really receive amnesty because of all his crimes against humanity...but he might be able to save his sole and bring peace to a family who wants/needs closure for an unsolved murder of their teenage daughter.
Cast (🎥): Forest Whitaker (God Father of Harlem) and Eric Bana (Troy) star in this movie. And bring with them a bunch of actors not well known, but add depth to this very disturbing movie.
Plot (🎥): Nothing about this was cheese. It was based off of real events, showed just a part of what an area was dealing with, and gave a perspective from both sides of the spectrum; for and against Apartheid.
Enjoy (🎥): Very real movie to watch. I wouldn’t say entertaining as much if it makes you think WTF or how can people be like this. However, definitely a conversation movie especially with what we are going through currently.
Suggest (🎥): Yes, especially for those that are into movies with real depth and with history for better or worse.
Rewatch (🧀): Once was enough for me. I did some research after to understand it better, but I got the gist after one viewing.
Overall (🎥🎥🎥🎥🧀): A very disturbing movie with a real story to tell. A conversation starter for sure, but one and done; definitely a recommend to others.
**Hope you enjoyed this post. Suggest a movie and I
Seventh Review: Serenity
Description: This movie stars a character called Baker Dill who is a Tuna Fisherman in an isolated island called Plymouth. He takes tourists on fishing trips trying to catch a big tuna called Justice. One day Baker’s ex-wife, Karen, shows up unannounced and informs Baker that she and his son are in trouble; her current husband Frank, a rich and arrogant man, is physically abusing them...and she wants him dead! However, things are getting odd on this island. Up until the point where Karen arrived everyday was the same...like absolutely the same. Baker is also starting to hear voices that sound oddly like his son Patrick. Is Baker going crazy, what’s really going on in Plymouth, and will he kill Frank in the name of his family; there’s 10 million in cash on the line after all?
Plot (🧀): This movie is odd. I didn’t quite get it until the end. It made sense once I knew the deal, but it didn’t take away from the oddness. The only thing really saving the movie from something that I would’ve felt bad I wasted my time is the cast.
Cast (🎥): All Star cast saves this movie from being a complete flop. Baker played by McConaughey (Dazed and Confused and The Gentleman), Karen played by Hathaway (Princess Diaries and Brides Made), Frank played by Jason Clark (Zero Dark 30), a chick Baker is banging played by Diane Lane (The Outsiders and Justice League), and Bakers First Mate okayed by Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamonds and Gladiator)
Enjoyment (🎥/🧀): It was ok, but it was odd. I found myself at times being like WTF. I’m sure there’s market for it, but really other than the A cast of actors nothing stuck out for me. Frank’s character was such an A-hole it was entertaining though, and you see Hathaway really get kinda slutty, and McConaughey does a good job going nuts 🥜.
Suggest (🧀): I wouldn’t suggest this movie accept to people who were true movie buffs, or people who were looking for a movie w
Fourth review: Bad Boys II
Description: Two Miami detective partners who have a tendency to walk on a thin line of good police work, and making a complete mess of crime scenes. They are looking into a slick gangster who is slanging big time Ecstatics. Through some sloppy detective work they are able to zone in and make a bust, but the drug lord slips away to Cuba. Not only does the king pin get out of Dodge, but an undercover agent who has family ties to one of the detectives is held captive. Now these two US cops are on their own to save the hostage as the US can’t negotiate with Cuban officials. Shizz is about to get real, and dangerous as these cops are going into a war zone with only a few brave comrades on the low to back them up against a dude who has the Cuban Army to back him up
Plot (🎥/🧀): Bad Boys II picks you right where the last one leaves off....the two cops crap talking each other, make a bloody mess of crime scenes, and getting their Captain all in their A$$!! This movies transitions from a battle scene between cops and a high profile drug dealer in the US to an international tactical operation over in Cuba. Obviously it’s a far fetched scenario of being realistic, but who hasn’t dreamed of being a bad a$$ NARC agent taking down a hard core drug lord with little no no rules of engagement except to get the bad guy at all costs!
Cast (🎥): Top notch cast. Two main characters being Will Smith and Martin Lawrence really complement each other. They truly have an on screen connection that makes you believe these guys really are more than just partners, but life long friends. Supporting cast is good too. The Captain is Joe Pantoliano (might remember him as Ralphy from Sopranos or the dude who wants a steak from the Matrix). The bad guy is Jordi Molla (Blow or Riddick) and does a great job being a savvy king pin. Henry Rollins even plays a bad a$$ DEA agent that wants to help the Cuba mission; why...because it sounds stupi
Second review: Lone Survivor
Description: set in the remote hills if Afghanistan 🇦🇫 a team of SPEC OPS go to do a RECON on a known terrorist hard point. All hell breaks loose, a bad A$$ battle, and unfortunately the title suggests what the end result is. That survivor then winds up at a village where non-Taliban Afghanis honor an ancient code to protect those who need protecting. This ends up in another battle where the survivor and the villagers must fight literally for their lives.
Plot (🎥): Being a Soldier I’m a little biased on military movies, but truly this movie had a great story. These Soldiers truly displayed the Warrior Spirit on the big screen. You saw some some great fight scenes that really made you think that shizz could go down like this in real life. And while it’s a very sad story with lots of death...the end result really showcases a human desire to help others and fight back against the bad guy!! This is one of those movies you could talk about for a minute, and of course if you had been there you have your own stories to add in as well.
Cast (🎥): Complete A-lister cast. You got Marky Mark, that dude from Battleship, Johnny True-Love from Alpha Dogs, and a bunch of known faces. The cast melded well together to bring a truly Solid performance from everyone!
Enjoyment (🎥): Keeps your attention the whole time thinking what could possibly happen next. Are these guys going to make it. Then you see all the shizz theses guys go through just to try and stay alive, and how much A$$ they kick in the process.
Suggest Movie (🎥): No surprise this is a definite movie I suggest. I’m actually get insulted when my brothers and sisters in Arms haven’t seen the movie.
Watch Again (🎥): Most definitely. I’ve seen this movie probably 10 times. It comes on TV enough that when I see it listed, and nothing catches my eye I’ll tune in...and of course I get sucked into it. It takes me back to my trip to Ghani, a
Third review: Demolition Man
Had a request for a review of Demolition Man. I’m a mad of my word, so here ya go:
Description: An old school no nonsense cop and an evil psychotic bad guy get arrested and cryogenically frozen after an epic battle and rescue mission go completely wrong. Fast forward to the future all crime is gone, and society has gone soft. A new underground threat from rebels aims to take back a fake peaceful society, and bring back people’s freedom. A corrupt politician releases the bad guy to kill the rebel leader, but dude notices the weak society and quickly is too much for the soft cops. It’s decided they need an old school cop to handle the “new” bad guy, so they unfreeze the cop...but this world is way different than what he’s used to, and the cop force is weak.
Plot (🎥/🧀): I like the plot. You can totally see some city doing something like this in the future. It reminds me of like a Silicone Valley type of place. The cop is that old school 80s type cope who’d beat ya in the head if you didn’t comply, and the bad guy just likes to destroy sh*t and kill people. The new society of people and cops add a comical tone to an otherwise total action flick; which is done in a way not to take away from the action. The underground people add an element normal, because you can relate to them; and they just want freedom to be them.
Cast (🎥): A list cast all the way around. You got Stallone as the cop, Snipes as the bad guy, Bullock and Benjamin Bratt as the new age cops, Denis Leary as they leader of the underground, and Nigel Hawthorn as the corrupt politician; among a ton of other decent supports including Jersey “The Body” Ventura as a bad guy side kick.
Enjoyment (🎥): This is a classic kick a$$ guy flick. There are funny cheesy moments in the movie where your like “yeah right”, but they are overshadowed by all action. Of course you have a ton of cheesy “one liners”, but that’s what makes t
