Digging Through Dominoes My podcast, Digging Through Dominoes, is now available on all major podcasting platforms! Are you constantly wondering what the hell is wrong with me?

Why don’t I trust people? Why do the same things keep happening over and over again? Is there something wrong with me? Why don’t I ever feel like I’m enough? HOW DO I CHANGE MY LIFE?! Then it’s time to grab your coffee, or wine, or whatever you need and curl up on the couch with these real and inspiring conversations with Teri Anderson of Digging Through Dominoes. Don’t be surprised if you see gli

mpses of yourself as Teri shares her very real (sometimes hard to believe) stories. From childhood neglect to abusive relationships, she’s seen her fair share of hardships and KNOWS the feelings of unworthiness, hopelessness and despair. But she fought her way through to where she is today – fighting the good fight to live a good life, learning about herself and how to love herself. More importantly, she wants to share that hope and optimism that she’s gained through enduring the hardest of times. In a world where depression and anxiety are growing, and PTSD is finally being recognized, we all need a safe place to go and be heard and understood. Digging through Dominoes is that place. It’s the place to be if you’ve experienced any sort of mental, physical or emotional trauma. It’s a safe haven that welcomes you in, but isn’t afraid to talk about what hurts the most. The stories may be hard but they are REAL and there is hope at the end of the day! Teri’s mission is to let you know that you’re safe, you’re definitely not alone, and to never give up because there is always hope!

Seeing this each October makes me appreciate Oregon more than I generally do. The BIG plus is being able to go into the wet/cold months without wondering if Joshua is warm, if he's hungry, cold, and/or safe.

The last few days I've been thinking a lot about Joshua. There are so many, "ifs," both during his life and then in reflection.
If his birth mother had been older, or known her mental health history, we could have been better prepared.
If every doctor I took him to from the time he was born until he was diagnosed at age 7 had taken me seriously.
If we had known anything about autism.
If we had early intervention.
If I could have stopped him from being bullied at school.
If I had known he was being bullied by his older siblings.
If I could have convinced his dad autism was real.
If I could have tried harder, fought the system with more force.
If I would have understood why I would come home and he was reorganizing my entire kitchen, and not be angry.
If I could have enjoyed him more instead of focusing on getting him to specialists all those years.

I was on a motorcycle ride last week. When I got home and watched the garage door open, I wished the other door would fly open and he would burst through as he always did. If I had only cherished that then as I do now.

If you took away all that Joshua was afflicted with, autism, bipolar disorder, and paranoid schizophrenia, he had the sweetest soul, he was genuine, caring, compassionate. He was talented beyond words, he was giving, and curious. He lived to make others laugh and feel better about themselves. He loved to laugh, he loved to make others laugh, he was so eager with everything. He loved life. He loved people. He loved to cook. He loved his guitar. He loved poetry. He loved to figure out how things worked. He had high hopes and dreams. He loved Jesus. He was amazing.

While writing this I began to wonder what if Joshua hadn't known he was different. Did he try so hard because he knew he was different? It's a heartbreaking thought.

People always say they're sorry when they hear my son died, and I appreciate it. However, in my heart, I'm thankful. I'm thankful he's no longer tormented and is free from the ugliness of this world and the illnesses he endured. I'm thankful the hard times lifted and I can remember the joy that was my son. I see his smile, I can hear his laugh, I see his happiness. Those things I hold tightly and I cherish.

If only I had known he would be here just 28 years.

If you know how you are gonna react to certain situations, then you are probably choosing your experiences without even knowing.

Just think. If you already know your reactions about any experience before experiencing it then your mind is just playing games with you and you've become a part of it.

To exit the game you just have to react differently or do not react at all. Don't let your mind make predicated reactions to things and situations. Take every experience with a whole new mindset and become a game changer.

Often in life, we expect people to understand us the way we try to understand them.

It's not possible every time that people understand you.

Every person is living in different realities. Everyone is vibrating at a different frequency.

Don't blame people for not understanding you. If they are not standing on the same ground as you, they will probably hear you differently.

Forgive people for not understanding you. You also aren't able to understand everyone.

So, know this truth and free yourself.

Posted • Repeat after me: I recognize that by not making changes, I am actively choosing my current circumstances. I hold the power to change my life, and I will no longer remain in situations that don’t serve me. I deserve to choose better for myself. Today, I take responsibility for what I can change and release what no longer aligns with my growth. I choose transformation over stagnation.

They’ll twist the story to make you look like the villain, ignoring the pain they caused in the first place.

Poor little girl. She hit all her milestones, over 1 year, first heat cycle, and she reached her max height, so she was safe to be spayed! A follower on YouTube that watched Karma’s videos on her TPLO surgeries, (due to being spayed too early), told me he got a surgical sleeve for his pup’s TPLO surgery (early spay victim as well). I wish more people/vets realized how critical it is to WAIT for spaying large breeds, especially athletic dogs, so their knees have time to fully form.
I found Gemma two surgical recovery onesies which means NO cone!!
