It’s important we break the competition cycle! Society cultivates a narrative of women being in competition with each other.

However, when women choose to support one another, it breaks this cycle and promotes collaboration, cooperation, and mutual growth. This shift in mindset can reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy.

Supporting each other is GOOD FOR OUR HEALTH!

According to HIV.gov Black/African American and Hispanic/Latino communities are disproportionately affected by HIV compared to other racial/ethnic groups.

HIV can affect anyone regardless of sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, gender, age, or where they live. However, in the United States, some racial/ethnic groups are more affected than others, compared to their percentage of the population.

Among women, disparities also exist. Black women are disproportionately affected by HIV as compared to women of other races/ethnicities. Although annual HIV infections remained stable overall among Black women from 2015 to 2019, the rate of new HIV infections among Black women is 11 times that of white women and four times that of Latina women.

It’s important to get tested if you are sexually active and to get on prep if your partner is infected.

If you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed…

Maybe you need a nap friend?

Experts recommend getting 7-9 hours of sleep each night, but life often gets in the way. We stay up late for various reasons like binge-watching shows, work demands, attending to our children, or dealing with anxiety that disrupts our sleep.

When we consistently lack sleep, it creates a sleep deficit that affects our overall body functioning. Our reaction time, information processing, judgment, patience, and vision suffer. Prolonged fatigue can lead to stress, burnout, and moodiness.

To recover from sleep deprivation, daytime naps can be beneficial. They help reset our systems, restore energy levels, and enhance performance. With a rested mind and body, we can fully engage in meaningful activities and enjoy time with loved ones. Whether at night or during the day, getting enough sleep allows us to be more present in our lives.

It's important to establish a good sleep routine before relying on power naps. If falling asleep is a challenge, consider working on improving your sleep quality first. Daytime napping may make it harder to fall asleep at night. Sleep meditation, such as Sleep by Headspace, can assist in training your mind to rest. Once you've achieved better nighttime sleep, you can explore the benefits of power napping.
