He was only 15 years old, and knowing how strikingly similar he appears to Emmett Till is jarring, horrible, and incredibly sickening.

Just as we always do.

They disregard us any other time but expect us to show up for them every 4 years just to blame us when s**t doesn't go their way.

I just wanna talk real fast about something.
Chadwick Boseman and his life, and what it meant for me, and a lot of other black people.

Chadwick became the face of a movement.
I had never seen an all black cast where I got the opportunity to see blacks thrive!

He became so many influential people in blavk history, whether real or not.
He continued to give young black people who are into the arts something to strive for, regardless of his illness.

He was beautiful, inspired, profound.
We lost a great today.

Hello BVM subscribers, watchers, and friends.

We apologize for our radio silence these past few months but as you all know, s**t happens. The real world doesn’t always make time, but we wouldn’t stay silent in the wake of the situation playing out.

First things first, thank you all both old followers and new for continuing to support our page with likes and shares as well as listening on podmatic. Now more than ever, we need people listening to black voices to make sure they understand our world purview. We appreciate and love you all for taking the time.

Secondly, we wanted to highlight how groundbreaking this whole new wave of civil rights is for us, and also…how scary.

We are all black people, and we have watched for years as we were killed, treated unfairly by the justice system and profiled for our skin tone. We have lost job opportunities, been degraded and treated as if our emotions were in excess because of our skin tone. We feel the outrage and we are overwhelmed by the support we have seen people give in our country and also around the world.

However, we must remember how exhausting and mentally taxing this has been for us. These protests have brought about a duality of black people, a juxtaposition that must be recognized and respected.

Not all black people want to be in the front lines and should not feel pressured as such. Not all black people ON the front lines should be equated to rioters, thugs, looters, sophisticated shoplifters or whatever else people open their mouths to say.

This whole protest, and our own podcast as a whole is to remind you that black people are human, we are valid, we deserve the right to be whatever we choose, we have the rights to speak our minds.

And we have the right

To choose when to be on the front line or to recuperate.

So for our non black friends, be gentle to us. To our black friends be, even more gentle with yourselves

And above all, be safe.
