This is probably the most autism-parent thing I’ve done. Jack Jack is a text-book sensory seeker. He doesn’t like to sit still. He wants to run, jump, swing and climb. So with how cold and rainy it’s been this week he hasn’t been able to play outside with all his regulating activities.
Derrick had a wild idea to bring our new jungle gym (Christmas gift from aunt Jor Jor and uncle Chris) inside. Soooo here we are til it gets over 60° outside.

It took me time to accept that my son’s life was going to be different. For three years I constantly worried about someone noticing that he was different. He loved jumping, climbing, and lining up toys. In my heart I knew there was nothing wrong with him or what he did. He was happy, healthy and I wasn’t about to let someone try and change my mind. In those three years I grew. I grew a huge amount of understanding and acceptance. I educated myself and listen to mothers who walked this path before me. I’ve gotten asked a lot how I’m so motivated, and what motivates me. Honestly it’s the act of getting it done.. I’ve worked and overcame a lot to be this disciplined. It doesn’t happen overnight.. it’s making the right choice over and over again til it becomes a habit. .Most days you won’t feel motivated or it’s harder to find the motivation and that’s where discipline steps in.
