86 Talent is the UK’s leading agency for home, interiors and DIY influencers and we are now growing our lifestyle roster too.

86 Talent was founded on the core principles of transparency, integrity and inclusivity and we have worked hard to improve industry best practice. When we founded the agency no one else was prioritising education and strategy and so, having already grown a successful coaching business helping influencers grow and charge their worth, we decided adding a talent management element was a natural fit. We did this first and we do it best 😍

💛 we have a team of talent managers meaning you have plenty of bespoke attention. We actively pitch EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. for new work, including very specific influencer projects. Other agencies simply do not do this.

🧡 we are completely transparent when it comes to your work and your contacts. It’s your work and they are your contacts. You are not obliged to have us manage your inbox if you don’t want us to.

💛 our influencers get exceptional results through bespoke strategy sessions that see them not only catapult their followings but their earnings too. Many have given up full time jobs because they have simply started earning so much money after joining us.

🧡 we have access to a lot of exclusive contracts. You know when you only see our influencers on a project? That’s because we contracted with the brand direct to supply the talent. We have more contacts and more relationships, nurtured over many months. The integrity and exceptional content created means we have a strong reputation in the industry and brands come to us direct for talent.

💛 we have the right qualifications. You are safe in our hands with a qualified solicitor reviewing contracts and our talent director comes from a background of more than 20 years media and PR experience - a winning combination.

🧡 we don’t rely solely on inbound work. We tend to work on a 50/50 basis with us generating around 50% of the work and the rest flowing in from you.

Weeks are seeing lots of grumbles about influencers not declaring their ads recently. But why aren’t they doing it?

Some influencers worry (wrongly!) that ads won’t perform as well as organic posts. So they panic and try to hide the ad declaration. 

But it’s simply not true that IG suppresses ad content. What matters is that your ad content ‘feels’ organic. It should flow. 

Brand collabs are something to be proud of! You worked hard for this. Shout about it!

Hiding ad declarations doesn’t go down well with your audience, the ASA or Instagram. It’s not a great look to the brand either - it looks like you’re a bit ashamed of working with them!

At 86 Talent, our influencers must declare their ads openly and always as the first word of their caption. We don’t get any arguments about this though: they are happy to shout it from the rooftops!

This Easter break we are celebrating our growing team and their accomplishments. 86 Talent has grown quickly from an idea to ‘do talent management differently’ to a team of over 20 influencers and some fantastic talent managers looking after them.

March has been our best ever month at the agency. We lined up more collaborations this month than ever before and we are so excited to work with such talented influencers who are always going the extra mile to make their content stand out from the crowd.

Who’s ready to get the new year off to the right start?!

Well let’s start with as declarations! These aren’t a tricky one to get on top of really, though we know it can get a bit confusing when it’s repeat shares and so on.

But for the most part, all you need to do is simply say ‘ad’ at the BEGINNING of your caption. That’s what the ASA want from you.

Instagram ToU also say you need to use the ‘paid partnership’ label so don’t forget that too.

A common theme for new talent joining us whether from other agencies or having never had management before is ‘I’ve made so much more money since joining you’. Now, whilst we don’t have a magic wand and no one should be completely reliant on an agency to find them work (we expect you to have been getting a regular flow of paid work before you sign with us) it should always be the case that there is transparency about where the work came from, about the negotiations, what’s in the contract and so on.

You should have access to your emails (if you want to).

You should be getting clear advice on the legal implications of contracts, especially around the use of commercial music as more and more influencers are being sued here (and you can bet there’s an indemnity in your contract that passes the burden to you).

You should have management who actively pitch and can run through who they’ve presented you too.

If your management isn’t currently ticking these boxes… you know where we are! 😉

Here’s what we recommend… be clear, be concise and communicate to the brand the value YOU bring ⭐️

Showcase your talent, share examples of your work, share your ideas and demonstrate the connection you have with your followers.

Don’t forget to do your research study the brand your pitching to know their audience and provide an idea that aligns with their marketing message.

Lastly, remember it’s not just about YOU (soz babes) because brands are looking for long-term relationships (😘) show them that you are in it for the journey not just a one-off collaboration
