Healing is the best decision that I’ve made to improve my quality of life! 🧡

HOWEVER, healing isn’t linear and it isn’t always glitz & glamour either! It’s actually the hardest journey I’ve committed to in my adult life.

Some seasons are so overwhelming that I want to give up! It’s in those moments that I have to remind myself that growth is uncomfortable and God is using this journey to prepare me for GREATER! 🙌🏽

If you’ve done any type of healing work then you know exactly what I mean. Suck it up buttercup, you’ve got this!! 💪🏽

EPISODE 10- TRAUMA RESPONSES AIRS TODAYYYYY!!!

Has your anxiety ever kicked in when you had to Answer the phone, read an email, or reply to a text/dm?

Yesss??? Keep reading…

That anxiety that you’ve felt is most likely a trauma response related to fear of disappointment, fear of getting in trouble, or conflict.

Perhaps, in the past you’ve experienced trauma and now your brain constantly feels danger and fear especially if the event or feeling is familiar.

I bet you didn’t know these 8 behaviors were also a trauma response:

1️⃣ Playing victim
2️⃣ Constantly staying busy
3️⃣ Walking away 🏃🏽‍♀️
4️⃣ Shutting down
5️⃣ Emotional numbness/unavailability
6️⃣ Hyper-Independence
7️⃣ Dissociation
8️⃣ People pleasing

When you experience trauma, it dysregulates your nervous system to the point of being unable to fully control your emotions and behaviors.

At this point, your nervous system stays “on” and struggles to self-regulate as it’s now wired for protection and not connection.

When your nervous system is stuck on it can look like:

-being overstimulated
-unable to calm down
-anger
-anxiety
-hyperactivity
-restlessness

If your nervous system stays on too long, there is a high chance it will turn into unhealthy coping mechanisms, physical pain, and/or health conditions.

The good news is, healing will allow you to release trauma from your body and give your nervous system a rest!

Sis, did you grow up with your parents hugging you, telling you how great you are & saying “I love you” on the regular??
Nah me neither. 🤦🏽‍♀️

The reality of most of our lives is that we grew up in an unstable, chaotic, emotionally unavailable household. Some of us experienced much worse with trauma, abuse or neglect.

The unmet needs and pain from childhood that follows us into adulthood is our Inner Child Wounds. They continue wrecking our relationships and our mental until you are brave enough to take back control of your life and HEAL!

Sis, have you ever noticed your ability to read any room?!! 🧐

Like you’re on an elevator in your parking deck and your heart starts racing looking at the man that smells like the Curve cologne that your uncle used to wear. Now you’re standing there picturing different scenarios of how you’re going to protect yourself if he tries to follow you when you get off on the next floor.

The door opens, you swiftly get off and race to your apartment. You forgot all about the zoom meeting you had scheduled because you had to set up a barrier at the front door, laid the 🔪 on the counter, and continued to look out the peep hole for him to appear for the next 30min.
