I have been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome...it's the nasty cousin of shingles. I have been having the most amazing pain in the right side of my head and stabbing pain in my right ear. I have also lost half of my hearing in the right ear, and have facial palsy (paralysis) on the right side of my face. The facial palsy means I have to tape my right eye shut in order to sleep or shower and must constantly use eye drops. Eating and drinking with half a mouth has been interesting too. The first couple of weeks were the worse, as I also had really bad vertigo.

Being on all the drugs for this uninvited guest, my sleep has been filled with the strangest dreams. Throughout all of the dreams the soundtrack has been one song...A Pirate Looks At Forty by Jimmy Buffett. Every morning for almost three weeks now, I have woken up with Jimmy's song in my head. While I still have major pain, can't really hear well and can't form certain letters with my half mouth, I had to get this song out. BTW, Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is the same thing Justin Bieber had last year and had to cancel his tour.

Hello FB friends. After a life-changing traumatic brain injury a few years back, I decided it’s time to focus on my love of music and songwriting. Here’s one of the songs I’ve come up with. I’m still trying to work out the kinks with recording, but I hope you enjoy it.
