Today at the White House, National Security Advisor to the Vice President Phil Gordon hosted diplomatic representatives from Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay to discuss the evolving political situation in Venezuela. Daniel Erikson, Senior Director for the Western Hemisphere at the National Security Council, and Mark Wells, the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere, joined the meeting.

Dr. Gordon expressed the United States’ solidarity with the brave and courageous people of Venezuela for their participation in the July 28 presidential election despite significant challenges.

Dr. Gordon emphasized that Vice President Harris stands with the people of Venezuela and believes the will of the Venezuelan people must be respected. He underscored the Vice President’s commitment to work with the international community to restore democratic norms in Venezuela. And he expressed the Vice President’s opposition to any political repression and violence.

Dr. Gordon reiterated the Biden-Harris Administration’s view that Edmundo González Urrutia won the most votes in the presidential election.

He also commended those countries who voted to pass the Organization of American States’ resolution to reach an agreement on initiating an impartial investigation into the recent elections in Venezuela two days ago.

Dr. Gordon underscored that now is the time for the Venezuelan parties to begin discussions on a respectful, peaceful transition in accordance with Venezuelan electoral law and the wishes of the Venezuelan people.

1965 año clave en la historia de la T.V. Nacional:
Desde su inicio, el 13 de junio de 1954, no hubo espacio legal para lanzar canales comerciales independientes de televisión en todo el país. Esta decisión obligó crear el proceso de Licitación y de Adjudicación de espacios para llenar la parrilla de programación diaria.
Corría el año de 1965, cuando todavía había un sólo canal de televisión en todo el país. El 65 fue uno de controversias laborales, de tipos de programación, de aumento de tarifas, de quejas sobre la parrilla de contenidos, y de educación pionera sobre el tema de los medios a nivel universitario.
Sobresale entre ellas la determinación del Ministerio de Comunicaciones de eliminar los programas de tipo político. Decisión que incluso afectó a uno que se llamó “La Nación en marcha” y que dirigía Carlos Lleras Restrepo; otro “Democracia” de Julio César Turbay Ayala; otro del exdictador Gustavo Rojas Pinilla que se llamaba “Ayer, hoy y mañana”.
Ese mismo año se realizan pruebas para lanzar un segundo canal que estaría disponible para llegarle a los habitantes de la capital y algunas zonas aledañas – campanazo para el nacimiento del Teletigre se estaba gestando a tiempo que el mercado coqueteaba con la privatización del medio.
Educando a Papá: Por ese entonces la Universidad Javeriana lanzó un curso pionero dedicado al estudio de la radio y la televisión, dirigido a profesionales de los medios, a estudiantes de postgrado sin importar su especialización y a trabajadores del ramo con un mínimo de cuatro años de experiencia en el oficio.
Por ese entonces el programa de mayor sintonía era “Yo y Tú”, escrito y dirigido por Alicia del Carpio – española de nacimiento, rola de corazón. El espacio se transmitía los viernes a las 8:50 de la noche. - La imagen adjunta es de ese mismo año. En ella aparece parte de el elenco del programa. De izquierda a derecha:
Ángel Alberto Moreno, Jaime Monsalve (Quien muriera trágicamente ese mismo año víctima de un accidental envenenamiento colectivo que se cobró tres vidas más. EL paisa Monsalve se inició en el elenco del radio teatro de La Voz de Medellín que dirigía Marco F. Eusse (Amigo de la familia y socio fundador de la cadena Radio Ritmos) Desde 1961, Monsalve, formó parte del elenco de “Yo y Tú”. A su lado está Alicia del Carpio – directora y escritora del programa. Junto a “Alicita” está Carlos Muñoz, y al final está Alvaro Ruiz, el eterno “hombre feliz”.
