Studio Details ✨

Been in this space for 6 weeks or so, and although there’s still plenty to do, it’s come a long way! Grateful to have this creative space & excited to use this as an opportunity to really lock in for 2025 🚀

natural light > studio light

As a videographer I always thought photography was a bit boring, but there’s been a shift in the past few months & I’ve found a love for capturing & editing stills.

I like people, faces, natural light and somewhat candid pictures. So I’m taking that passion and slowly learning what to shoot & how to edit in order to create the looks I want. Grainy, warm, faded, filmic, nostalgic, emotive.

And mirror-selfies 💁🏼‍♂️

Missing my creative working space 😮‍💨

We moved house 3 weeks ago and anyone who has experience in moving, knows how long it takes to get everything sorted at the other end! You have to pack, move and unpack whilst actual life continues around you.

So my studio is still in boxes and I’m undecided where I’ll setup, but one thing I do know is i miss that space I had for myself & I’m desperate to rebuild in my new home.

Let’s see where we end up!

In my world of videography & photography, it seems everyone has to have ALL the gear… multiple cameras & lenses & specific camera bags & lights etc… It’s just what ‘camera people’ do! 🤷🏼‍♂️

I am an advocate of not just following the crowd. Not doing the same or having the same as everyone else. I think it’s probably a stubbornness thing and a willingness to keep some individuality in such a saturated world.

I like to keep it minimal. I like to have what I need, not what my industry suggests I need. And I like to create freely, not create something just because it fits with “how it should be”.

What I’m saying is… you are an individual. Use that to your advantage. Take inspiration, sure! But be a goddamn individual. No matter what it is that you do, your work will benefit from it.

If you’re from my part of the world, you probably did too. It was EVERYWHERE!! Feeling like a coiled spring, impatiently waiting to recover & start the year properly.

If you’re off to a false start, don’t stress. Just reset when you can and go again.

That was NOT the ending to our family holiday that we’d planned… but we’re home 🙏🏼

Left Nottingham on Friday Morning, due home 7pm but the storm had other plans and blocked our route. Several failed attempts to drive home and a few hotels later, we are home and I’m back in my creative work space.

Lucky & grateful to be in a position to have kept ourselves safe and warm while we waited.

To my friends and clients, I lost a couple days there. Please bear with me whilst I reset and get going again. Unfortunately my work is not the type I can just do faster, but I will do more than usual in order to get up to speed. I appreciate your patience and understanding.

Yesterday was the end of an era.

In case you didn’t know… before I picked up a camera and launched Attic 87, I was a full-time musician.

For over 10 years I lived my dream and played over 700 weddings and thousands of other gigs.

Covid changed my path and I made the decision to try something new… Content Creation! However, when I started Attic 87 I still had 67 weddings in my diary. It was important for me to honour those bookings and finish as I started, Professionally & reliably.

Safe to say the past couple of years have been a bit of a slog with the video world being so busy, but still having all those weddings to play at the weekends. 😴

Yesterday was my final wedding. I loved it. It was a beautiful day and beautiful couple! but WHAT A RELIEF! I’M FREEEEEE!!! 😂

I feel incredibly lucky to have done what I loved for a living for the past 14 years and I don’t take it for granted that I’m doing it all over again, just in a different industry!

Anyway. I suppose the milestone just made me want to share some gratitude 🙏🏼
