Acting British High Commissioner Andrew Dalgleish met Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan at Zaman Park on Monday.

Acting British Deputy High Commissioner Zoë Ware and Political Adviser at British High Commission Talal Raza were also present in the meeting.

The meeting focused on bilateral issues and matters of mutual interest, with a detailed discussion on PTI’s vision for the promotion and stability of democracy in Pakistan, as well as the supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has issued the annual report on the Worldwide Cost of Living for 2022. According to the survey, Karachi is the world’s sixth most affordable city to live in.

The UK-based Economist Group’s forecasting, consulting, research, and analysis division, EIU, releases a “Worldwide Cost of Living” report every year.

As per the report, Syria’s capital, Damascus, sits at the top of the list of the most affordable cities followed by Libya’s capital, Tripoli, which steals the second spot. Due to the ongoing-armed crises in both Syria and Libya, the economies of both cities remained in turbulence this year. Tunisia’s Tunis has been ranked fourth on the list

Surprisingly, eight Asian cities have been placed among the most affordable cities in the world. Karachi has been ranked sixth in the most recent edition of the survey, retaining its position from 2021, while Tehran (Iran), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), and Almaty (Kazakhstan) have been placed at third, fifth, and seventh positions, respectively.

In addition, India’s Ahmedabad and Chennai sit at eighth and ninth spots, while another Indian city, Bangalore, and Sri Lanka’s Colombo share the tenth rank with Algeria’s Algiers.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who recently wrapped up shooting for his upcoming film Dunki in Jeddah, was spotted in Makkah on Thursday evening performing Umrah. Pictures and videos of him from the holy city shared online have since been doing the rounds.

The clips see him wearing a rida, izar and face mask while he is surrounded by what appear to be his security personnel. Saudi journalist Saud Hafiz also confirmed on Twitter: “Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan performed Umrah in Mecca today. May Allah SWT accept his Umrah, Ameen."

Khan has been receiving tremendous love from his fans. "A truly beautiful sight to see you in our Holy place, Shah Rukh. My heart is full," wrote a tweep sharing a clip of the actor straight from the Holy Ka’aba.

Ambassadors of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday, the military said.

Matters of bilateral interest came under discussion during army chief’s separate meetings with Saudi envoy Nawaf Saeed A. Al Milkiy and UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Alzaabi, the military’s media wing further said.

The meetings took place two days after General Asim took charge as the 17th Army chief of Pakistan at a ceremony held at the GHQ on Tuesday.

The change of command ceremony was held after a gap of six years, as General Qamar Javed Bajwa, now retired, was given a three-year extension in 2019.

Federal Minister for Aviation and Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said that the federal government is formulating a national aviation policy. He said that the government is trying to acquire regional jets on dry lease for starting flight operations at small airports using small aircraft.

زیر خزانہ اسحاق ڈار کا کہنا ہے کہ پاکستان کو 5 سال میں سود سے پاک کر سکتے ہیں۔

سود کی حرمت کے حوالے سے کراچی میں ہونے والے سیمینار سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے وزیر خزانہ اسحاق ڈار کا کہنا تھا کہ دنیا بھرمیں کوشش کی جارہی ہے کہ ہرشخص کوبینکاری نظام سے منسلک کیا جائے، بینکاری کا نظام زندگی کی ضرورت بن چکا ہے اور بینکاری نظام کے ذریعے شفاف لین دین کو یقینی بنایا جا سکتا ہے۔

ان کا کہنا تھا کہ حکومت ملک سے سودی نظام کے خاتمے کے لیے پرعزم ہیں اور شرعی عدالت کے حرم سود سے متعلق فیصلے کا خیر مقدم کرتے ہیں، اسلامی بینکاری نظام کے حوالے سے آج ہم وہاں کھڑے ہیں جہاں 2018 میں کھڑے تھے، اگر ہم خلوص نیت سے صرف اللہ کی رضا کے لیے فیصلہ کریں تو 5 سالوں میں ملک سے سود کا خاتمہ ہو سکتا ہے۔

حکومت نے ایک بار پھر پیٹرول کی قیمتیں برقرار رکھنے کا اعلان کر دیا ۔

وزیر خزانہ اسحاق ڈار نے اعلان کیا ہے کہ پیٹرول اور ہائی سپیڈ ڈیزل کی قیمتیں آئندہ 15 روز کیلئے برقرار رکھنے کا فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے۔حکومت نے کیروسین آئل کی قیمت میں 10 روپے جبکہ لائٹ ڈیزل کی قیمت میں ساڑھے 7 روپے فی لیٹر کمی کردی ہے۔

Over 50,000 users signed an online petition within few hours on Tuesday after former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan called for raising voice for Senator Azam Swati, who was arrested for the second time for allegedly tweeting against senior military officials on Sunday.

The petition shared by the former premier on his official Twitter handle claimed that Senator Swati's life is in danger and he was arrested for free speech, after being charged with multiple false first information reports (FIRs).

وزارت خزانہ نے جولائی سے اکتوبر تک کا معاشی آؤٹ لک جاری کر دیا۔

رواں مالی سال کے پہلے چار ماہ میں ترسیلات زر، براہ راست غیر ملکی سرمایہ کاری، بڑی صنعتوں کی ترقی کی شرح ، نان ٹیکس آمدن اور ترقیاتی اخراجات کی شرح میں واضح کمی ریکارڈ کی گئی ہے ۔

برآمدات 2٫6 فیصد اضافے سے 9 ارب 80 کروڑ ڈالر کی رہیں ، جولائی سے اکتوبر تک مہنگائی کی شرح 25.5 فیصدرہی جو گزشتہ سال اسی عرصے میں 8.7 فیصد تھی۔

سرکاری اعداد و شمار کے مطابق رواں مالی سال کے پہلے چار ماہ میں بڑی صنعتوں میں ترقی کی شرح منفی0.4 فیصد رہی جو گزشتہ سال اسی عرصے میں 10.2 فیصد تھی ۔

جولائی سے اکتوبر ترسیلات زر 8.6 فیصد کم ہوئیں،گزشتہ مالی سال جولائی سے اکتوبر ترسیلات زر 10.8 ارب ڈالرتھیں اور رواں سال اسی عرصہ میں 9.9 ارب ڈالر رہیں۔
