Karem Benzema becomes only the second player aside from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to win Ballon d’Or since 2008; Luka Modric won the prize in 2018. Benzema is the oldest player (34 years) to win the title since Stanley Matthews in 1956.

Similarly, Barcelona midfielder Alexia Putellas has won the Ballon d'Or Feminin for the second year in a row.

Messi did not enter even among the 30 nominees for the Ballon d’Or, while Ronaldo has been in 20th place.

A court in Brazil has fined Apple around $19 million (Rs 2.5 billion) for not selling iPhones with a charging socket unit, saying it must provide chargers to existing customers.

The tech giant has been widely criticized by the industry and customers for not providing charger in the box since 2020’s iPhone 12, citing environmental concerns.

Other than paying the fine, Apple has also been asked to include charger in the box if it wants to sell its iPhones in Brazil.

CAAN informed that the paragliding service has been suspended until further arrangements are made to make the paragliding service more secure and organized.

It should be noted that this decision came after a 26-year-old paragliding athlete Nisim Thapa died in an accident during a paragliding flight at Sarangkot in Pokhara on Sunday morning during 9th National Sports Competition.

This is the first time in the history of the National Games that an athlete has died after an incident on the course of the competition.

Four people were killed after a BMW car from which they were traveling rammed into a container truck. The car was reportedly moving at an extremely high speed of 230 KM per hour on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Minutes before the accident, a person sitting in the car went live on Facebook with the camera focused on the speedometer, where a speed as high as 230 KM per hour can be seen.

In a video which has gone viral on the internet, a young man can also be heard on camera saying “all four will die".

Harka Sampang, the mayor of Dharan sub-metropolitan city, has announced to give his one month salary to Sharmila Thakuri, who has been deprived of her cart by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

On Thursday, Sharmila Tamang, who was selling panipuri at the gate of the maternity hospital in Thapathali, was confiscated by the city police of Kathmandu Metropolis. A video of the metropolitan police ignoring her request to save cart is going viral on social media.

Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has requested to keep the number plates of the vehicles as per the standards.

The office has also warned that action will be taken in accordance with the Vehicle and Traffic Management Act 2049 if the rules are not followed.

The traffic police stated that necessary action will be taken if a two-wheeler is found driving making a loud noise.

Australia has cut full-time work rights for international students. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a statement saying that from the beginning of the next financial year, the right given to students to work more than prescribed will be stopped.

Earlier, students were legally entitled to work up to 80 hours. But the Department of Immigration and Citizenship of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a public notice and said that this right will be closed after June 30, 2023. After that, students will not be allowed to work more than 40 hours a fortnight.

Nepal has condemned the Russian attempt to annex four regions of Ukraine to its territory. On Wednesday night, Nepal voted in favor of the resolution condemning the referendum on the annexation of Ukrainian territory to Russia at the United Nations General Assembly.

Gangster-turned-politician Rajeev Gurung aka Deepak Manange has been elected a member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly UNOPPOSED!

Manange had filed his nomination for the election to be held on November 20 with the CPN-UML support. Later, the Nepali Congress also extended its support to him.

However, Manange was challenged by another independent candidate, Dorje Lama. But, Lama today decided to withdraw his name.

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has exported more than 1 billion units of electricity this year, making Rs 7.93 Billion profit.

The Nepal Electricity Authority started selling the excess monsoon electricity consumed within the country through competition in the day-ahead market of Indian Energy Exchange Limited (IEX) from 19th Jesth.

Since the electricity trade with India is done in Indian rupees (Bha Ru), INR 4.95 billion 76 lakh has been brought into Nepal from the sale of electricity.

Dengue is endemic in Nepal. Dengue has so far been confirmed in 33,975 people since it was first reported in early August, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The causative serotype(s) is unknown. This represents the largest dengue outbreak in Nepal with regard to the cumulative number of cases reported nationwide per year.
