A great day today! First off seeing my son, Sammy, do his first gig at The Corn Exchange in Newbury, he even had a fan (one of the elderly audience members) come up to him after and tell him he’s got the makings of a big star!! Followed by watching Ilanga, Steve Voss and Echobelly at Readipop and then filming an awesome performance from Natalie Gray closing out the festival!

I met this guy, Rob Moore - the presenter, yesterday. An interesting guy. But his interview with Will.I.Am here is fascinating. Obviously I've known who Will.I.Am is for years and that he's been involved with a lot of areas of the entertainment industries, but never really known a huge amount about him. It's interesting listening to him speak about the different topics they discuss though. He definitely seems like a really switched on bloke.

I remember the first time I went to Monnow Valley about 20 odd years ago, walking into the big live room, looking around going wowwwww, this is where Definitely Maybe was originally recorded, which at that point was about 7 or 8 years old. I remember staying there by myself overnight one night and drinking myself to sleep, through fear of going to be with the supposed ghost in the bedrooms, watching a crappy film about Paul and Linda McCartney! I then went back again about 10 years later to record a band there and it still had that amazement of walking in there, thinking of all the bands that had rehearsed and recorded there over the decades. Such a great studio. But I’ve always wanted to hear those original Monnow Valley Definitely Maybe recordings. I think the only one that made the album was Married With Children, so it’ll be great to finally hear the rest of them! Brilliant album, brilliant studio!

10 years ago I won a ticket(?) to go to the filming of AC/DC’s new music video for Rock Or Bust. It was such a cool day! We had to meet at Victoria station, all 500 or however many, of us. We then had to walk through the streets to a bus station nearby, where we were piled onto a bunch of coaches. We were then taken through London to eventually arrive at a film studio in West London (about 5 minutes from where I had actually parked)! We were all taken into a sound stage with a massive green screen, as a holding area, where we were given a packed lunch. Unbeknownst to everyone, the band had shot their Play Ball video in there the day before. There was a big PA in there and they played the brand new song to us, making us some of the first people in the world to hear a brand new AC/DC song since the Black Ice album in 2008! We were then ushered into the main stage set. Me and the guy I was hanging about with ended up being walked in almost last. We thought, ugh, we’re gonna be right at the back. But they’d actually started filling people in from the back. So we ended up being right at the front, right behind the band. We didn’t have the greatest view, but in terms of cameras, they were pointed in our direction a lot. The band were brought in to do the song. They did one take and then went back to the dressing room. They maybe came out and played 4 times in total, each time with a new camera set up. After they wrapped, we were then taken outside, where Angus was signing autographs. I couldn’t get close enough, but got a bit of a crappy photo from the side. We then hopped on the coach back to Victoria and then went home. Maybe the whole thing in about 5, 6 hours tops! A brilliant day! And what’s more, looking through the release form, they still owe me $1 payment for my participation! Maybe I could trade it for a ticket for the new tour! Ha. 🤘🤘🤘

Final day at Download. Unfortunately due to be old and knackered and out of money, we ended up leaving early and ended up missing Slipknot. But it’s been great to be back at Donington again! 5 years since I was later there, having only missed 2 previous to that! Download will forever be my go to festival, it holds so many great memories over the years! So I can’t wait to go back again and maybe one day, with the kids too! But for now… it’s time for bed! 🤣🤣🤘🤘

2/2 of our historical trip today at the hotel and looking around Atherstone again. We walked past my 3x great grandparents old pub, where they lived and then went to look at the church where they probably got married. We were invited in to see a bit of the christening service that was going on. An amazing old church! I could then imagine my 2x g grandparents walking through the market square up to the old school, as a kid! Amazing stuff! I’ll definitely be heading back to Atherstone one day!

1/2 Historical part of our trip for our final day was looking around our hotel, which is reportedly where Henry VII stayed the night before the Battle of Bosworth, where he beat Richard III to become King of England, kicking off the Tudor dynasty.

So day 2 of the historical trip side of Download weekend has been a visit to the Battle of Bosworth battlefield, where Richard III was killed, ushering in the reign of the Tudors with Henry VII! Fascinating!

1/2 So part of my trip up to Download is to trace the footsteps of my 2x great grandfather, John B. Kind, who started a woodwork company 150 years ago. We walked around the town he was from Atherstone and visited the warehouse of the same company that still bares his name. The lovely people there showed us around. It was absolutely fascinating!
