The government is set to sell Kenya Literature Bureu, Kenyatta International Convention Center, National Oil Corperation, Kenya Seed Company Limited, Mwea Rice Mills and Western Kenya Rice Mills Limited.
Key reasons supporting the action are together with:
1. Poor financial performance
2. Negative working capital
3. Low liquidity
4. Reliance on the government for recurrent and development support
5. Inclusion of other parastatals into the limited company
6. Monopolistic nature of some parastatals like Kenya Pipeline
7. Ongoing legal cases affecting Kenya Pipeline
8. Profitability and maturity of some parastatals that makes them ready to be sold to the private sector with Kenya Seed Company Limited being at the hub.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, popularly known as the University of Choice today, hosted The 7th Chairperson of the University Council Dr. Pamela Sitienei alongside investors from the United Arab Emirates to discuss the construction of a state-of-the-art student center.

Dr. Pamela, while addressing the media affirmed that the 7th University Council remains student-oriented, promising that she will do her best to ensure that students are comfortable.

She took the opportunity to promise all students who are to graduate in 2023 that they will graduate despite having fee balances. She promised to ensure that during this tough economic moment she will do her best to ensure that the school fees are settled.

She also ordered the Vice Chancellor to extend the clearance deadline to Friday, 9th Nov. 2023.

Dr. Pamela's visit puts mmust on the international radar.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has acquired a Nitrogen Generating Plant in a bid to enhance research and training in the School of Natural Sciences (SONAS). The plant is set to supply liquid Nitrogen to the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) machine, which is housed in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry. It was brought to the University today, 12th April, 2023, by a team from Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS), and officially received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo.

This is indeed a great move for MMUST as it will not only cut down the cost of purchasing Nitrogen, but also create a source of income for the University. The newly- obtained Plant has the capacity to produce thirty (30) litres of Nitrogen per day. The NMR machine only requires fifteen (15) litres of Nitrogen per day, meaning that the remainder will be distributed to other departments in the School, and the rest to the surrounding community for income generation.

It is worth noting that the NMR machine was donated by the African Development Bank (ADB). It is used to determine the structure of organic molecules which are very important because they are a part of every living thing.

Also present during the handover of the Nitrogen Generating Plant were; members of the University Management Board (UMB), Registrar (Academic Affairs), Registrar (Planning, Research and Innovation), Dean SONAS, Chairperson of Pure and Applied Chemistry Department, Student Leadership, as well as a number of staff from various departments.
