STEP 1. Understand the basics of UGC (what it is, how brands use it) using the free resources available to you online
Once you’ve decided you are ready to start, you need to get the hard part over with first, which is…
STEP 2. Set up your business. It’s not just making fun 30 second videos and getting free products… this is a PAID SERVICE and a legitimate business.

STEP 3. Find brands to pitch to by looking at who your peers are working with & note which sponsored posts pop up on social media while you’re scrolling.
STEP 4. Pitch to said brands using @onbento to reach the marketing team, instead of just the customer service or help desk
STEP 5. Everything above is just the basics of UGC. There’s a lot more to this business, and if you want to get paid faster, reduce your trial and error, and take out the guess work in the FASTEST amount of time…
Find mentors in the space you can trust.
You don’t have to invest in a course, but I think it’s a good idea if you want to take your business seriously & become successful faster.
Nobody is going to accomplish your goals for you, so you need to make decisions that reflect your priorities.
Although I’m a UGC coach myself, I know there are a ton of other amazing mentors out there that you might resonate with as well. Chances are, if you like their free content, you’ll like their paid content even more, so DO YOUR RESEARCH:
- Do they go in-depth or do they only share basic information other people are sharing too?
- Do you like their teaching style?
- Ask other creators who have invested ins aid resources and ask their honest opinion
And STEP 6. Connect with likeminded people and put yourself in the industry.
