Do yourself and others a favor and audit churches for how women are empowered. Are they only visible when the fellowship hall is open? Are there women visibly leading who don’t carry the last name of the pastor?

Failure in the area is a forfeiting the power of God in service to the god of patriarchy. 💯

For far too long our churches have been places of oppression for women all in the name of Jesus. 🤯 We must grapple with the ways we have weaponized the Scriptures against women, Black women in particular. 💯

The danger is that we risk missing this opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus because those same limbs are too busy with the assembly line of American Christianity.

When all our efforts build the institution of church, yet leave little room for the activity of being Christians, what we have left is an American bourgeois Christianity that has closed its eyes to the most vulnerable among us.
