Movie-Shut Up Sona (on Zee5)
Many films are available in theatres, but one should watch a documentary called Shut Up Sona on Zee5. It is a 2019 released film that documents the day-to-day life of Sona Mohapatra, a singer, lyricist, and music composer.
Sona Mohapatra is known for her songs like "Ambarsariya" from the 2013 film-"Fukrey." She entered mainstream prominence through Aamir Khan's talk show Satyamev Jayate, where she frequently appeared as a lead singer. Her song "Mujhe Kya Bechega Rupaiya" aired in the show's third episode.
Being feminist and raising her voice against the misogynistic male-dominant music industry, Sona had to deal with many controversies and death threats.
Director Deepti Gupta captures every moment of Sona through her lens. It personally connects you to the person on screen.
The film was first released at the 2019-MAMI Film Festival and also won National Film Award for Best Editing.
