Germany Has Pledged 82 Million Euros Grant To Help Boost Ghana’s Economy

Germany has pledged an 82 million euros grant to
help boost some critical sectors of Ghana's economy. Germany and Ghana go way back in a wide range of areas. Germany is an important trading partner for Ghana. In 2018 bilateral trade between them was worth roughly 630 million euros. Vehicles, machinery, and chemical products are the most important exports from Germany to Ghana. Whiles cocoa and crude oil products are the main exports from Ghana to Germany. The German government has conducted a wide range of activities in Ghana. For example, the German government is one of the major supporters of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center which trains personnel for peacekeeping by the United Nations, the African Union, and the economic community of West African States. The German government also helped to train and equip the Ghanaian Army and the Ghana Police. But now we all know that Ghana's economy is not in good shape and the whole problem the Ghanaian economy is facing now is rising debt, which is not news anymore because the entire world is in an economic recession. So because of the good history between Ghana and Germany. They have decided to support Ghana with 82 million euros in grants to support the country's renewable energy and financial sector development.

Ghana's Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta said in the statement that, the grants are also intended to support technical skills training, good governance, digital infrastructure transition, food security, and female empowerment. According to Ken Ofori Atta, part of the money will go toward the newly created Ghana Development Bank. Which would ensure access to long-term and affordable capital in challenging economic times.

Bill Gates: Mass gatherings might not return until we get coronavirus vaccine

Despite parts of Washington state starting to report a falling number of coronavirus cases, it could be many months until large-scale gatherings return in the United States.

Bill Gates estimates at least 6-10 weeks before coronavirus is quelled

Even after COVID-19 cases have fallen to a more manageable level, there are concerns among health officials that the virus may very well continue to return until a vaccine is developed. The best way to prevent that rebound? Thorough, expansive testing and tracking of cases, something the U.S. has yet to approach in its own response efforts.
“It’s most important to be looking forward and saying, ‘Are the number of tests growing? Is the speed which they come back less than 24 hours? And, are we testing the right people?’ We’re still not there,” Microsoft founder Bill Gates told the CBS This Morning podcast.

Without an acceptable level of testing, extreme social distancing measures are regarded by experts as the best tools to fight the spread of the virus sans a vaccine. Given that most timelines estimate that a vaccine won’t be ready for at least a year to 18 months, that makes ongoing, long-term social distancing measures that much more likely in the months ahead. This includes limits currently being imposed on large-scale gatherings.
"What does opening up look like?” Gates posited. “Which activities, like schools, can be done in a way that the risk of transmission is very low? And which activities, like mass gatherings, may be — in a certain sense — more optional? Until you’re widely vaccinated, those may not come back at all.”

This is backed by other research, including an Imperial College paper published in March, warning that “transmission will quickly rebound” if stringent social distancing measures are relaxed before a vaccine is produced.

That timeline is echoed in the U.S. government’s own 100-page plan for the pandemic, which spans 18 months, and warns that the outbreak could come in “multiple waves.”

CORONAVIRUS: 5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CORONAVIRUS

Face masks aren't that useful
You might be seeing people wearing them, but there is limited evidence that they work.

That's because they are generally too loose, don't cover the eyes and can't be worn for long periods.

Face masks need to be changed frequently (because they get sweaty), if they are to offer any real protection.

To protect yourself, the World Health Organization (WHO) says it's more important to:

cover your mouth and nose while sneezing, with a tissue or your elbow
put the tissue straight into a closed bin
wash your hands regularly with soap and water or sanitiser
keep your distance from people who are coughing and sneezing (at least one metre)
Don't bother:

eating garlic
gargling mouthwash
rinsing your nose with saline
using sesame oil under the nose
None of these will help protect against the new virus in any way, the WHO adds.

You can't catch the virus from pets

There is no evidence that your pet dog or cat can pass on the new coronavirus, according to the WHO.
UK experts say reports of a dog in Hong Kong repeatedly testing positive should not lead people to panic.
"We have to differentiate between real infection and just detecting the presence of the virus," says Prof Jonathan Ball, professor of molecular virology at the University of Nottingham.
"I still think it's questionable how relevant it is to the human outbreak as most of the global outbreak has been driven by human-to-human transmission."
He added: "We need to find out more, but we don't need to panic - I doubt it could spread to another dog or a human because of the low levels of the virus."
But you should still wash your hands regularly with soap and water after touching pets.
Even cuddly ones can carry bacteria such as E.coli and salmonella - and these are bugs that can pass between pets and humans.
The new coronavirus (called SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease Covid-19) is thought to have originated in wildlife and been passed to humans via a live animal market in Wuhan, China.
The virus could have gone unnoticed in animals before jumping to humans, which is how many viruses start. eg. avian flu, Ebola, Sars.
Scientists say the likelihood of the virus making yet another jump to another species like dogs in such a short space of time is very, very small.
During the Sars outbreak in 2003, a small number of cats and dogs tested positive for the virus. These animals did not transmit the virus to other animals of the same species, or to humans.

Coronavirus: What are the symptoms?

It is seldom a 'killer'
Most people will have mild symptoms (dry cough, high temperature) and will recover, the UK's top doctor says.

However, the virus is making some people seriously ill (pneumonia, breathing problems) and killing a small number (severe lung issues) - around 1%.

The elderly, the unwell and (possibly) men are more at risk of getting a serious disease.

Children and younger adults tend to have much milder symptoms but those with severe asthma or weakened immune systems could still have serious complications.

Remember that seasonal flu, which circulates every winter, kills people too - an average of 600 people die from complications of flu in the UK every year and hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

Prof Ball, from Nottingham University, recommends good personal and hand hygiene to protect against flu and coronavirus.

Scientists still don't know exactly how the new virus is spread but it does seem to be very infectious.

"Tiny droplets from coughs and breathing are most likely," Prof Ball says, so advising people with mild symptoms to self-isolate for seven days is lowering that risk even further.

Reducing close contact with people, particularly those who look unwell, is a good move too.

Getting a flu vaccine at the moment is still advised by UK health officials.

How deadly is the coronavirus?
But there is no cure
There are no specific medicines or vaccines for the new virus, and antibiotics don't work either (they fight off bacteria, not viruses).

Treatment options do exist but most people get better on their own.

Scientists are working hard to develop a vaccine, but this will have to be tested in trials first, so it could be some time before it's ready.

Older people and those with other health conditions, such as asthma, heart disease, cancer and diabetes, are most vulnerable to the new virus.

Although anyone of any age can get it, it is hoped that only one in five of the population will be infected - but the worst case scenario could be 80%.

It's safe to eat Chinese food
There is no need to avoid your local take-away or to stop buying Chinese food or beer from any other outlet, despite fears on social media.

The WHO says it's also safe to receive packages and letters from countries with coronavirus hotspots.

The virus is unlikely to survive for long enough on these kind of surfaces.

But it can survive on surfaces like door handles, cups, mobile phones and money for days, potentially, which is why regularly cleaning our hands with soap and water is so important.

You have to be in close contact with an infected person - within two metres for 15 minutes or more - to be at risk, according to advice from Public Health England.

UK government advisers say it's more likely you'll be infected from close family and friends than when attending a large gathering or event.

The virus is now circulating widely within the UK so health officials say that reducing social contact - by working at home, avoiding busy public transport and staggering your commute - is a good idea too.

Garlic Cure Coronavirus: All you Need to Know About Coronavirus!

Garlic Cure Coronavirus: WHO has called for a global emergency for the coronavirus infection as there is a rapid spread of the virus across the globe. The coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has originated and spread from Wuhan, China.

The local authorities are taking all the possible necessary measures to control and the global community has come forward to develop strategies to control the spread and develop a treatment for the infection.
The Spread of Coronavirus:

There has been an increased threat of the spread of the deadly novel form of the coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

The virus is spread through nasal liquid like other respiratory infections through coughing and sneezing.

It releases infected saliva and mucus in the surrounding that can travel up to a certain distance.

As per WHO the incubation period of the coronavirus is between 2 to 10 days. Patients can be asymptomatic and can even transmit the infection in that stage.
Symptoms of Corona Virus (2019-nCoV):

Fever, cough, sore throat, chills, and muscle soreness are the symptoms of coronavirus infection.

The respiratory symptoms can be severe and can lead to shortness of breath with respiratory distress.

People who had traveled to China and have these symptoms should be monitored and evaluated.

Don’t miss: Coronavirus Symptoms in Humans: Prevention and Home remedies
What is the Origin of Coronavirus:

Coronavirus is known to affect mammals. The main culprit for the recent China outbreak seems to be bats.

The genetic sequence of the virus closely matches with bats. Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Lancet medical journal states bats were the initial hosts for the viruses.

Bats had also been previously associated with the other deadly viral outbreaks of Marburg, Nipah, and Hendra.

Is there Any Cure for the Recent China Coronavirus Outbreak?

There is no treatment for the 2019-nCoV infection. People who have produced the symptoms of the disease will be given medicines for symptomatic treatment.

If people who have been in the epidemic area or have been in contact with the infected person then seek immediate medical help.
Garlic Cure Coronavirus:

Garlic has antiviral properties and is widely used to prevent and treat the common cold.

New information has emerged in the market that states garlic is effective in treating coronavirus infection.

8 cloves of chopped garlic in 7 cups of water are boiled and the fresh extract is used.

Fact Check: There is no scientific evidence that Garlic Cure Coronavirus
Coronavirus Vaccine:

There is no vaccine for the coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Scientists are working to analyze the viral structure and develop the vaccine for it and this will take some time.

The current strategy is to prevent contact with the disease.
Is the Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) a Matter of Concern?

There is no cure for the treatment of disease and only preventive measures can be taken.

The virus may or may not produce the symptoms of the disease and it affects the respiratory system and causes severe acute respiratory infection.

Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) can lead to the death of the individual and can spread to other individuals.
Preventive Measures for Coronavirus:
Travel advise to prevent coronavirus (2019-nCoV):

If you have been to a foreign country and have symptoms of cold, seek immediate medical attention. Share your travel history with the doctor.

A piece of important advice for all travelers is to wash hands frequently with an alcohol-based sanitizer.

Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth as the chances of the spread of infection are higher.

Avoid contact with people who are suffering from cold and fever. One has to take measures to avoid the spread of the infection, hence we should use tissues while coughing and sneezing and discard the same.

Put-on masks and cover your nose and mouth completely, discard the mask after use.

Prevent Spread of Infection to Home:

When going to the market avoid contact with stray animals, animal waste, spoiled meat, etc. wash your hands immediately after touching animals or animal products and do not touch eyes, nose, and mouth.

If you work in the markets, wear protective clothing (gowns and masks) while handling animal products.

Wash your protective clothes daily and leave the dirty clothing at the worksite only. Also, disinfect all the equipment and machinery to stay protected.
Precautionary Measures at Home:

Use different chopping boards for veg and on-veg food
Do not consume sick animals
Meat products should be consumed only after thorough cooking so that germs are killed
Do not spit in public places
Wash your hands while handling raw and cooked food

Can Mosquitoes cause Corona Virus Infection?

It is a zoonotic infection and is likely to be transferred from animals, transmission through mosquitoes, other insects, or even mammals, is possible.
How to differentiate between Coronavirus and flu Symptoms?

Both flu and coronaviruses have similar symptoms cough, fever, and shortness of breath and body aches.

Flu symptoms are intense and severe than cold whereas human coronaviruses cause mild-to-moderate upper-respiratory tract illnesses.

Coronaviruses produce intense symptoms that can lead to pneumonia. The flu can be prevented by taking regular vaccines as advised, whereas there is no cure for the prevention or treatment of coronavirus infection (2019-nCoV).
How can you Detect the Coronavirus in Humans?

Your doctor may advise you to undergo blood tests to confirm the presence of coronavirus.

Respiratory secretions and throat swabs are also taken to confirm the diagnosis.

Do inform your doctor about travel history and suspected contact with an infected person to allow early diagnosis and treatment.

GHANA IS OWING MY FATHER $120 MILLION PRESIDENT NANA AKUFO-ADDO

The president of Ghana, Nana Addo Darkwa Akufo-Addo has said that the Ghanaian government is indebted with a whopping amount of $120 million being money borrowed from his dad.
According to the Commander In-chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana is yet to refund the money to his family after past presidents refused to pay for the money loaned to the colonial government headed by Sir Gerald Creasy.

“At this point, I would like to state on record that our great nation is failing to progress because it owes some individuals millions of dollars and that has become a curse on Ghanaians.
And until we pay those people we will remain a s**t hole country just like the US President Donald J. Trump described us.

As you all know my father Mr. Edward Akufo-Addo loaned us $120 million during the World War II, I have asked Ofori Atta to start paying the money else I will send him to Anota,” said the President in his address at the 62 Independence Day anniversary parade in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale on Wednesday.
Explaining why the Sir Gerald Creasy led administration borrowed from his dad who became Ghana’s ceremonial president in 1960, he stated emphatically
“His money was used to buy, gari, nkatae, panin di panin [water], the military used for soaking while at the World War II.
His money was also used to pay for prostitutes whenever the officers sleeps with them.
Not forgetting the alewa red and white our security personnel enjoyed,” he said
The first gentleman of the land disclosed that he forgot about it but his dad ghost remembered him.
“I nearly forgot about it but thank God for my dad’s ghost he visited me last night and advised I used the money to relocate to China and put Ghana on auction and I promise to do just that” the president disclosed.
