3 things to understand when somebody says something about you

1. It’s out of your control what people think and say about you!

2. How they talk about others is often more a reflection on them than on you.

3. If it strikes a nerve with you, sit with the feeling for a minute and try to find out which part got you emotionally reacting to it. Is it because they were right, or did it touch on an old trauma responds? Either way, you get to choose how to deal with it. That part is 100% in your control. Not saying it’s easy, but it’s doable.

Does life control you, or are you in control of your life?

If you try to control life, the things that will happen, the things out of your control, then it will control you.

BUT if you accept that you have no control over what will happen, but all the control over how to deal with it, then you are in control of your life.

The road to fully understanding what’s inside and outside your control can take a while, but surrounding yourself with people who have walked the path or are on the same journey definitely helps!

Emotions are meant to guide us, not keep us in one place.

It’s okay to be upset with things, and to feel all your emotions, it becomes an issue though once you start living in that place.

If you woke up today, another day on this planet, than you are luckier than you can possibly imagine, because the odds of actually being alive are crazy small.

So what ever gets you down today, remind yourself - “I’m alive another day and get to experience something that billions of others who could have existed will never be able to.”
