Bucket list moment ✅️ With the patience and support from I made it under to meet the turtles! 😍

It is such a fun experience, and it really gave me a boost in self confidence to manage this! The sensation of breathing under water is really weird and I would have panicked without my lovely instructor Chris .oph and my beautiful scuba queen and photographer .k 💙🙏

I'm turning 35 this year and I still love trying new hobbies! It's never too late 🤩

Hey, I am Julie from Norway! 🇧🇻 And this is my story:

A few years ago, I was working as a social worker, living a life I thought was pretty “normal.” But deep down, I had this huge dream of exploring the world—solo. It took me years to build up the courage, but once I did, everything changed.

Fast forward to today:
📍 I’ve been traveling for 3 years.
🌎 I’ve visited 51 countries (and counting!).
🇰🇪 Right now, I’m in Kenya, soaking up its beauty, culture, and adventures (lots of content coming your way soon!).

But here’s the thing—I know how scary it can feel to take that first step. I remember all the fears and doubts:
❓ “Will I be safe?”
❓ “What if I feel lonely?”
❓ “How do I even start?”

That’s why I’m here—to inspire and help YOU take that leap into solo travel. Whether it’s your first trip or your 50th, I want this space to be a source of tips, tricks, and motivation to live your dream.

Ask me anything—seriously! No question is too small or big, and I’ll do my best to answer. Let’s break down those fears together and create a world where traveling solo feels empowering, not intimidating. 💪 Solo travel doesn't have to be full time either, take that weekend trip just to try it out.

My favorite Malaysian dish is the Nasi Kandar - and it tastes better when you eat with your hands! 😍

This dish can be a challenge cause if you order too much different things it can be a bit messy. The tip I got from food guide Tiger is brace yourself: select just a couple of veggies, one meat, and ask for a mix of all the sauces but just a tiny splash of each!

I love going on food tours when I travel, to get into the culture and see the city at the same time. 🙏

Magical Mirissa 🇱🇰 A vibrant coastal area of Sri Lanka, full of cafés, restaurants and activities. Here are some recs:

Beaches 🏝 Mirissa Beach is a vibe in the sense that it's full of sea food restaurants and bars. Jump on a jet ski, relax on a sunbeds all day with a coconut or take a swim - and enjoy the parties!
Want to go snorkeling with turtles? Turtle Beach is not far! 🐢

For sunset- check out Coconut Tree Hill 🌿

Feeling hungry? 🥑 For dinner my faves was .mirissa and .gedara.mirissa 🙏

Top cafés for me was .srilanka 🍍

The best gelato I had was at and the best pizza at 🍕 those Italian cravings come when you least expect it!

Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka - a mini guide! 🏝

Hikkaduwa is definitely worth a visit on your trip to Sri Lanka! We had lots of rain and storms during our visit, but that didn't stop us exploring and enjoying what this area has to offer. I can just imagine how great it is when it's actually good weather all the time as well. ☀️

Here's how we spent 3 nights here;

Accomodation: (ad) I stayed at the super charming - in walking distance from the town center but away from any noise. 🙏 Perfect place to stay! The sea view room was just stunning. This is run by my Norwegian IG friend and her husband, and she shares lots of good Sri Lanka tips on her page so check her out!

Café culture: My two go-to places for my stay here was for that delicious V60 pour over ☕️ and for incredible tasty and colorful food.

Roti and kottu: if you crave these dishes make sure to check out The Roti Stop. And try the coconut cake too! 🫓

Drinks and nightlife: Vibration Hotel has parties on Fridays And Mambos have Saturdays. Also Funky De Bar occasionally has parties. I didn't go to either but I heard good things. (I'm definitely not in my party era right now😂)

Beach: The beaches are long and gorgeous but beware that not all areas are safe to swim! I will check out Turtle Beach on my next visit as the rain put a stop to the beach activities this round ✅️

Markets: You find cute markets here every now and then - ask the locals when you get there for when and where! We went to a super cute one at Steffis and I got myself a bracelet from .sl 😍

Hidden burger gem in Stavanger! 🔥🍔 Stavanger has a huge selection of great burger places. If you're a fan of those good old traditional BIG and chunky bacon and cheese burgers in homemade brioche, then maybe XO Steakhouse is for you! 👏

I have never been here before, so it was really fun trying something "new" - this place has actually been here since forever. They serve Norwegian traditional dishes and are very popular for example amongst people visiting Norway.

The homemade burger bread is a very nice touch, and don't skip the potato wedges. For me personally I would love a thinner piece of meat but hey I know those meatlovers are out there will appreaciate these sizes 😎

Visiting the French Riviera in 2024? Here are some tips from me! 👇🇲🇫

- Buy macarons at Laduree at the airport 🩷
- Take the tram from the airport to city center. It leaves right out front of arrivals, every 10 minutes.
- The train between Nice and Cannes is also easy and affordable. Perfect opportunity to visit both places!
- For the villages such as Gourdon, Valbonne or Saint Paul De Vince, go with a driver for the day. Uber can be hard to get from there
- For Valbonne, try going on a Friday for the market, it's so fun!
- Want to eat at a good restaurant or rent sunbeds at one of the nice beachclubs in Nice? I recommend booking in advance ⛱️
- Enjoy the Saturday market in Nice
