Good morning snow lovers,
Looks like a nice patch of snow coming our way on Sunday after lunch time. Anyone north of i78 is 4 to 6 inches. Anyone north of roughly i80 is 5 to 8 inches with a possibility of higher the more north and west you go. The system starts about noon on Sunday and will start with light snow till it picks up in the early afternoon to moderate and heavy at times through the evening into Sunday night. The positive part is the snow will be long gone by day break on Monday morning allowing for a sunny and cold MLK day. Below is a map I am posting more for location of snow then for snow total purpose, but in my opinion it is doing a good job showing heavier totals vs lighter totals south.

Good evening
A very similar outcome to last event. Tomorrow morning (Saturday) will bring anywhere from a coating to a 1 inch for most of NJ. Onto the next one.

Good morning,
Who is ready for snow possibilities!?!?!? If you want the meteorology nerd explanation read below. If you want the quick summary skip to the bottom.

There has been a strong signal for potential storms after the first few days of January for a while now when we look at long range climate predictions. We need a specific pattern to set up for a better chance of these February 2021 type events. Two of the signs we look for are a Negative EPO and a Negative NAO which can we seen on the maps posted. A negative EPO means blocking over the NW pacific ocean and a Negative NAO means blocking over NE Canada. This will help pull artic air down to Florida and create the massive ridge in the west and deep trough in the Midwest to East Coast that help these noreasterly flow of storms. These signals seem to be staying in the proper location for a decent chunk of January.

Another map posted is for the first potential storm between the 6th and 11th of January to show you the possibilities of snow totals from these type of events and patterns. Not hyping up this specific event yet but it is 100% on the radar as we move into the new year.

The quick summary is we are moving into a stormy pattern with good probability of snow for our region after the first week of January that could resemble something like February of 2021 if all variables line up.

Have a happy and healthy New Year.

Good morning,
1.5 inches for Oak Ridge, NJ as this band exits our area and should be all done by 9am. Looks like we will be having a white Christmas after all.

Good afternoon
A real quick coating to an inch. Maybe 2 inches for some in Sussex County and north tonight into Christmas Eve. Shouldn't be anything to really worry about. Just check the radar when the bands come through and give yourself extra time.
Have a great Christmas.

Good evening
Looks like another weird low system moving through Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. I would say 2 to 4 inches for the standard Northern section of NJ. Could be more in sections like 4 to 5 but a general amount will work for most. It is 2 separate bands that will move through so Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning. Stay safe.

Good Morning,
Looks like another quick system will move through our region late tonight (Sunday) into Monday morning. I have attached 2 maps for reference of snow line and one to show elevation based accumulation for those who hang onto the cold air once again. Very similar to the last event where areas higher in elevation will win out. A general 1 to 3 for areas above 1000ft with higher amounts possible in High Point, Highland Lakes, etc. You all know the drill. Anywhere else is a coating to an 2 inches. There is also a possibility for mixing and ice to add another layer of difficulty to the morning commute. Give yourself extra time regardless. Once again this could cause possible school delays for these northern schools like High Point, Sparta, Vernon, etc. Anything is possible for the northern Morris County schools as well, especially the more northern ones.

Good morning,
A fast moving clipper system will move through our region late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. A general coating to 1 inch is possible for anyone north of i78. The amount really depends where these snow shower bands set up. It is possible to get almost 2 inches but just unlikely. These quick moving systems feel more like a squall. Could this cause delayed openings for schools, maybe but doubtful in my opinion. Looking at a small warm up Sunday into next week that we can look forward too.

22/11/2024

Good evening,
Road stick happening at 1000ft in Jefferson, NJ. Earlier than expected. A school decision is very possible for many that have areas above 1000 ft within the district. We will see in the am.

21/11/2024

Good afternoon!
Some more details. Snow will begin tonight into Friday evening before tapering off. It will snow north of i80 but the amount that sticks is elevation dependent. Areas below 1000 ft will see a coating to 2 inches or so. Areas above that 1000ft will see 2 to 4 inches. Areas above 1500ft could see 4 to 6 inches or more at places like High Point state park. The snow amount and where it sticks will really depend on how quickly the evaporative cooling will drop temperatures. The ground is very warm so snow sticking to roads at lower elevations is unlikely. School snow day decisions are really dependent on all the above factors. What elevation does your district encompass, is the temperature dropping quickly enough, and what latitude are you located in the state? Will be a Friday morning decision. Either way enjoy the snow and much needed precipitation.
Stay safe,
Mr. Konopinski

21/11/2024

Good evening,
Some snow on the way for us northern NJ folks. Looks like everyone north of i78 will see snow falling. The areas far north and above 1000 ft will likely see accumulations on cars and decks etc. So a coating to an inch. Areas above 1500 ft will see accumulating snow of 1 to 3 with maybe somewhere like HP recieving 3 to 5. The snow will begin Thursday night and slow by sunrise. It will continue throughout the day on Friday before tapering off Friday evening. I don't see much of any early dismissals or delayed openings at this time. Anything is possible but even with evaporative cooling I don't see the necessary variables aligning for that to be a difficult decision. Either way, I welcome the precipitation in any form because we know we need it!
