Talking about grief is difficult. When someone asks you how you’re doing, the griever experiences an internal battle to figure out how they’re going to answer. On the one hand, you want to be honest, but you’re not eut how your feelings will be received. Often when people ask, they aren’t really prepared for the answer. On the other hand, sometimes you really don’t know how you’re feeling and need a minute to figure out the answer.

Processing my first Mother’s Day with the fact that you never got to see me become a mother. I had gotten used to celebrating the day without you, but I never considered being celebrated on this day without you.

Navigating motherhood without my mom has been an absolute experience and a new journey in grief all in itself.

Oftentimes in life we face loss, hardship, change, health troubles, etc. and it can feel overwhelming. Your feelings are absolutely valid and I never want to post scripture to make you think you’re not allowed to feel because of it.

I DO want to encourage you, however, to look to them for encouragement in those times where it seems like everything is crashing down. Know that God is always there and He provides just what we need to hear in order to keep moving forward.

❤️Sis, you are NOT ALONE, and you WEREN’T wrong. I had to learn that we all still have free will and the ability to make our own choices.
