The reason we had to stop is time, so with that in mind we’re looking for someone to come on board as a producer/ editor. Carisbrook Castle is said to be built on an old Roman site, the castle itself was built in the 12th century and during the reign of Elizabeth 1sy was fortified in preparation for the Spanish Armada. In 1648 it was home to Charles the 1st as his prison, where he was allowed to roam the grounds and had a bowling green built for him, hard sentence right? He attempted to escape three times, one attempt saw him get stuck trying to get out of his bedroom window!! Princess Beatrice, Victoria's daughter later had the castle as a holiday home, designing her own garden, believed to be on top of a grave yard situated next to the castle's chapel.

Had the opportunity to visit Osborne (Osborne house) the holiday home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It's a beautiful insight into their private, privileged, life. Prince Albert designed it himself, built between 1845-1851 it has its own private beach where Albert taught his 9 children to swim, as well as the childrens play house called the Swiss Cottage, that's 3 times the size of my own home!! The carpets and furniture are all original, as well as the lift that was installed for Victoria as she became unable to manage the stairs in later life, you can see in a lot of the art how much they loved each other. Queen Victoria died at Osborne on 22nd January 1901 aged 81, after 63 years on the throne, beating Queen Elizabeth 1st 45 year reign.

Hope you've all got your Christmas pickle on your tree!

Did you know that it's a Victorian tradition to hide a glass pickle in your Christmas tree, the first person to find it would get good luck!!!

I'm not sure why it's a pickle, the Victorians were a strange bunch. That or the lady of the house had to come up with a quick excuse when the kids found it in her top draw 😜!
