UK and France say no plans to follow Italy with Covid tests for China arrivals as EU plans response

LONDON — The U.K. and France said Thursday morning they currently had no plans to reintroduce mandatory Covid-19 tests or additional requirements for travelers arriving into the country. It comes as several nations announced new measures in response to China’s relaxation of Covid restrictions amid a suspected surge of infections but reduced domestic testing. Beijing on Monday dropped its quarantine on arrival policy, leading many to book their first overseas trips in years.

Turkish defence minister speaks on Syria after Moscow talks

Gervonta Davis arrested, jailed on domestic violence charge

Boxer Gervonta Davis was arrested Tuesday in Parkland, Florida, and jailed on a domestic violence charge of battery causing bodily harm, according to Broward County Sheriff's Office records. Davis remains in custody at Broward County's Main Jail Bureau in Fort Lauderdale and is scheduled to appear at a court hearing Wednesday at 8 a.m. ET, according to the jail. No bond has been set.

North Korea drones: South's military apologises for pursuit failure

South Korea's military has apologised for failing to shoot down five drones that North Korea flew across their mutual border on Monday. Seoul fired warning shots and sent jets and attack helicopters to shoot down the aircraft, one of which flew close to the capital.
Despite a five-hour pursuit, the drones reportedly all returned to North Korea. South Korea's President has said that the incident showed the military's readiness was "greatly lacking".

Biometric devices sold on eBay reportedly contained sensitive US military data

German researchers who purchased biometric capture devices on eBay found sensitive US military data stored on their memory cards, The New York Times has reported. That included fingerprints, iris scans, photographs, names and descriptions of the individuals, mostly from Iraq and Afghanistan. Many worked with the US army and could be targeted if the devices fell into the wrong hands, according to the report.
