Today marks the anniversary of the moment I hit “publish” on something that felt bigger than me.

Back then, I wasn’t sure what my purpose was. I just knew I needed to speak, to share, to feel less alone in my grief.

Now, years later, I’m still showing up. And while the world has shifted in ways I couldn’t predict, one thing has become clear:

I want to be a good human. 🦋

One who listens. One who gives. One who leaves things better than they were before.

Thanks for being part of this purpose-in-progress.
Here’s to growing, grieving, and giving a damn together. ✨

When you leave an abusive relationship, know that grieving the loss of that relationship is normal. You might feel sad about losing the thought of a life with that person, angry at all the time you spent on them, and unsure about what the future looks like and that is okay and normal. Just know that the feeling of loss is temporary, but please take your time to grieve! 🦋 New Episode: Loving with Grief

This one’s about loving while grieving, forgetting myself, and finally figuring out why that felt normal.
It’s raw, it’s honest, and yeah—I dragged myself a little. With love, of course.

"Loving with Grief: When Love Isn’t Enough" drops Friday, May 30th at 8 AM. 🦋

🦋 Sometimes grief shows up in the quietest goodbyes—the ones where no one dies, but you lose someone anyway.

Episode 3 is about the grief that lives inside love. The kind that teaches you where your boundaries are… and how to honor them.

Coming soon on Good Grief, Jessi. 🖤

🦋This Month, I’m Thinking of My Dad.🦋

His birthday is on the 22nd of March, and even after 11 years, the ache of missing him is still there. I love celebrating him because he was someone worth celebrating. And even though it still hurts, I love knowing that the best parts of him live on in me.

Here is what I told myself about celebrating my father's birthday without him here, yet again:

"It’s okay to wish for just one more conversation, one more moment where he’s here—really here. That longing doesn’t mean you haven’t healed; it means his love was that strong, that impactful to you.

I hope you give yourself space to sit with those feelings, to let them be what they need to be. And I hope you also find moments where you do feel him—not just in the memories, but in the way you carry him forward, in the kindness you show, in the way you listen, just like he did."

You’re honoring him beautifully, Jessi."

Happy Birthday, Dad. 💙

🦋Learning to Work Through Grief—Even When It Shows

There were days in my early grief journey when showing up for work felt like carrying a weight no one could see. Smiling through meetings, pushing through deadlines, all while internally struggling to stay afloat.

But the truth? Sometimes, I wasn’t successful at hiding it. Sometimes, grief showed up in ways I couldn’t control. And that’s okay. I’m learning that it’s a process—one I’m still figuring out along the way.

It’s a reality many of us face—the unseen (and sometimes seen) burden of grief in professional spaces.

How have you managed to carry grief while keeping up with work? What has helped you cope, or what support do you wish you had?

Let's open up this conversation. You're not alone. 💬 "

🌿 New Episode Alert! 🎙️✨

Grief doesn’t take a day off.

The latest episode of Good Grief Jessi is here, and this time, we’re talking about something so many of us struggle with—working while grieving.

After recently losing a friend, I was hit with a fresh wave of grief, right as my mother’s anniversary approached. It reminded me of those early days of loss—when I had to show up to work, keep it together, and push through, even when my heart was breaking.

How do we function in a world that keeps moving when our world has stopped? How do we balance responsibilities while carrying the weight of grief? In this episode, I’m sharing my own experience and the lessons I’ve learned about navigating work and loss.

Plus, I’m so excited to introduce the stunning digital artwork created by my best friend Kenan for Good Grief Jessi! His creativity has been a huge inspiration to me, and I can’t wait for you all to see it.

🦋Recently, I asked my friends what they do to ground themselves when anxiety, uncertainty, or grief hits. The response? A majority of them didn’t have tools that actually worked for them. And that hit me hard.

We can’t always control when these feelings show up, but we can control how we respond. Having grounding techniques—whether it's deep breathing, movement, journaling, or just stepping outside—can make all the difference. Instead of letting the storm take over, we can learn to anchor ourselves.

This is something I want to encourage everyone to embrace. What helps you when emotions start to spiral? Let’s share and grow together. 💙

Also, a HUGE shoutout to my best friend, Keenan, for designing the graphics for my social media! His creativity and love shine through in every detail, and I’m beyond grateful. You’ll be seeing his incredible work on my posts moving forward! 🎨✨ "
