Today is the last day of the Journalism Education Association’s Scholastic Journalism Week, and the topic is Trends, Ideas, and Technology.

In the past year, Artificial Intelligence has reshaped the online news industry. The ability for AI to have on demand content generation and summarize texts has changed the game when it comes to analyzing documents and uncovering the stories within.

The Delphi has been quick to incorporate the use of AI to help with interview questions and idea generation while also discussing the ethics of this technology’s use in the newsroom.

The 3rd annual Hunterdon County Student Media Convention was a massive success! We celebrated Student Press Freedom Day by hosting over 70 students from Del Val, Hunterdon Central, Bernards, and Piscataway high schools as well as 15 guest speakers.

Our convention has outgrown the borders of Hunterdon (and our backdrop for the group photo), and we hope to see even more schools attend next year.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event or helped to make it an incredible day for NJ student journalists!

Student journalists play a crucial role in protecting press rights. They use their voices to share important news, keep their communities informed, and ask the tough questions not everyone might be willing to ask.

The future of journalism is today’s youth, and the cultivation of great writers and reporters comes from the strong leaders within journalism.

The First Amendment protects five fundamental freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly and freedom of petition.
