ADULTING

Roars- inside my head.
Shrieks and weeps all mingled together.
The ‘cluster headache’ seems to be stubborn.
In one corner of the 2BHK,
Sits this lonely female,
Struggling to make peace with herself.
Calming the storms within.
Faking a smile,
Wiping her tears to prevent smudging of her kajal.
Yeah! Tough huh?
But, why did her ‘baba’ not prepare her for this?
Why none told her that adulting is burdensome?
When the natural instinct indicates ‘quit’
Howcome its not an option?
Why fighting through is a part of life?
Amidst these unanswered queries,
Tears rolled.
Hands approached to a support ,
Only to fist around some invisible air.
Frustrated, hopeless , she gives up.
Lies on her back, staring at the ceiling .
Unaware of when sleep crept in.
The tears left marks on her cheeks.
Hours passed...
She wakes up to her morning alarm.
Dressed up for another battle with a smile.
