A little Soul-filled Sunday reflection.
How did I get so lucky to have the opportunity show Annika, my spicy margarita…no salt. She’s darn near bomb proof, acts like a lady on outings and stays out of drama. She’s a self preservationist 😍.
So, last Saturday’s show I got a little cocky with my preparation going in. I wasn’t prepared for what a busy week mentally and physically - beyond exercising 4-5/days per week plus riding, what a toll it would take on my body. With less than 24 hours of rest recovery, I physically hit a wall during my warm up.
Annika and I eek’d it out. However, as shown in above pics (kindly from friends), there were cringy moments of arms not framing, duck b***y, no positive tension in core through legs. Hence, periods of lost connection.
Competing in Equestrian sports has ways of humbling a rider. Just when you think, “oh I got this”. Horses, have a way of showing us plainly, no mincing words to get our sh*te to👏🏽get👏🏽ther👏🏽. Somedays, they don’t want to carry us all the way through; gotta show up every time as equal partners.
Therefore, the moral of this story is:
✔️Have your cocky, confident mindset for sure.
✔️Prepare, having a mental Plan A, B, C when sh*te goes way left in comp arena.
✔️Get 24-48 hours of rest. Not overworking your brain and body.
❌Don’t me daft like me pushing so close to the wire.
