The ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between DTI and FDCP took place yesterday, marking the beginning of support for YATU's upcoming short film, "Fishing the Moon Out of Water." Written and directed by John Peter Chua, the project was represented by Carlo Enciso Catu, the producer of the film. This project is backed by the Young Creatives Challenge and supported by the Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

🎉 YATU is thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievements of our Alaminos student filmmakers at the prestigious Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festival, held from July 10th to 15th! 🎉

We are beyond proud to announce the outstanding participation of two remarkable short films: "Peymus" (Famous), directed by the talented Gabriel Rodriguez, and "Ti Bisikleta ni Arong" (Arong's Bicycle), directed by the brilliant Branden N. Domingo. These exceptional films were created during the 2023 Hundred Islands Film Festival under the expert mentorship of Zig Madamba Dulay, Carlo Gallen Obispo, Tim Rone Bagnas Villanueva, Jerome Dulin, Sef Arcegono, Arjanmar H. Rebeta, Victor Kaiba Villanueva, and our very own Carlo Enciso Catu. A special shoutout to the HIFF team led by the amazing festival director, Raquel Rarang Rivera who attended the festival alongside our young filmmakers.

We are overjoyed to share that "Famous" brought home the coveted Magic Film Award, awarded by the jury to the best international short film in the Ready Action Competition section! 🏆✨

Great news! We are thrilled to announce that Bradley Jason Pantajo's short film in development, ON POTOK NA EYENEDE, has been awarded a film production grant from the CCCL Film Festival in Thailand.

To be produced by Carlo Enciso Catu, the same short film is currently in development under the Climate Story Lab, initiated by Active Vista, Dakila, the British Council, and Picture People.

This week, Pop Up proudly announces the winners of three prestigious Pop Up Film Residencies at film events in Brazil, Kazakhstan, and the Philippines! 🎬✨

And the winners are:

🇰🇿 Alternativa Film Project: Assel Aushakimova, director of the first Kazakh feature film with a q***r protagonist. Assel will be developing her 3rd feature film, "Astana Internet Stars," during the Pop Up Film Residency.

🇧🇷 BrLab: Maíra Bühler from Brazil. Maíra is set to make her fiction directorial debut with "Um casamento," a compelling story of an indigenous woman's life-changing journey in Rio de Janeiro.

🇵🇭 QCinema Project Market: Carlo Enciso Catu from the Philippines, a multi-awarded filmmaker exploring the complexities of Philippine family dynamics. Carlo's upcoming film, "Hold My Gaze," promises a narrative filled with intrigue and redemption.

"Hold My Gaze" marks Epicmedia's second Philippines-Taiwan-Singapore coproduction, following the Sundance Midnight "In My Mother's Skin."

Congratulations to our A Crab From A Conch Shell team and director Jermaine Tulbo for a well-defended thesis short film! We can't wait to share it with the world. ✨️

Thesis Defended! and then this happened... ✨

The first showing of A Crab From A Conch Shell took place as part of Jermaine Tulbo's film thesis at Meridian International College - MINT College. The film was defended in front of the panel of judges: Carla Baful, Jade Castro, and Eric Flanagan. Seven thesis films were presented, and A Crab From A Conch Shell received a total of five awards.

SPOTTED: A teaser poster for the film "A Crab From A Conch Shell" is displayed on the Meridian International College - MINT College. The panel board design is inspired by ocean waves, as the main idea of the film is that everything is going ahead, just like ocean. Jermaine Tulbo, the film's writer and director, created this.

Seven thesis films, including "A crab from a conch shell", will be presented and shown for the first time to the public viewers on June 14, 2023. The light is getting closer to us. 💡

With his project "LOVE IN THE UNGODLY HOUR," Bradley Jason Pantajo, alongside other filmmakers, will be mentored by some of the most sought-after global industry experts through a series of intensive film labs, residential trainings, and consultations from March 27 to 31 in the Philippines. After the in-person labs and workshops, the participants will go through a six-month online follow-up session until September 2023. Full Circle Lab PH 2023 is presented by the Film Development Council of the Philippines and Tatino Films.
