N L C AND THE ALTERNATIVE TO STRIKE

The Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress should be commended for shelving what would have been the mother of all strikes by the unions.

This will indeed save millions of Nigerians the pains of going through another strike in the face of many daunting challenges confronting the people.

However, there's needs for trade unions to go beyond wage increase or palliatives as solutions to the current malady.

Labour should rather press for lean government at all levels to save cost, massive construction of roads and rehabilitation of existing ones, huge investment in rail to link the nation, steady and uninterrupted power supply to improve the economy, revamping and equipping public schools, access to affordable health care and investment in agriculture and protection of lives and properties through improve security; all this will greatly impact on the lives of Nigerians if properly adhere to.

In view of the above the federal government under the leadership of his Excellency president Bola Tinubu should be commended for his Swift response to the Labour planned strike.

APC Produces Two Governorship Candidates In Kogi State.

The All Progressieve Congress (APC) has produced two governorship candidates in the party’s primaries that held across the wards in Kogi State on Friday being 14th April 2023.

According to the result made available to the media, Alhaji Muri Mutala Ajaka has scored 356,241 votes to defeat his closet Rival, one Jimoh Ododo who scored 74,027 votes.

However, drama started when the committee that conducted the election was induced and forced by the Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to announce his annointed candidate, Jimoh Ododo, as the winner of the said election.

Speaking to the media, a close supporter of Alhaji Muri Mutala Ajaka, he said, ” our Candidate has emerged as the winner and there is nothing Bello can do about it.

From the result in 14 Local Government Areas out of 21, it showed clearly that Alhaji Muri Mutala Ajaka is the choice of the people.

It may interest the general public to know that Alhaji Muri Mutala Ajaka against all odds won in the following 14 LGAs: Idah, Ibaji, Bassa, Dekina, Igala-Mela, Ofu, Olamaboro, Ankpa, Ajaokuta, Kabba Bunu, Lokoja, Koton Karfe, Ogori Magogo and Yagba West”

The added, ” Governor Yahaya Bello who inherited late Prince Abubakar Audu’s vote under APC cannot continue to force his will on the good people of Kogi State”.

He said, “as it is now, Alhaji Muri Mutala Ajaka is the authentic candidate of the APC as the will of Bello cannot over ride five million Kogites”.

He however, thanked Kogites for voting Alhaji Muri Mutala Ajaka saying, it is a new dawn in Kogi State as he will not let them down.

PELE IS GONE

Pele - originally named Edson Arantes do Nascimento - began playing for Santos at the age of 15 and the Brazilian national team a year later, bursting onto the world football scene as a 17-year-old in the 1958 World Cup.

During his international career, he won three World Cups - in 1958, 1962 and 1970 - the only player to achieve this.

His role in Brazil's third victory, in Mexico in 1970, has gone down in football folklore, as he played a key role in arguably the sport's greatest ever international team.

His glittering 20-year career from 1957 to 1977 saw him score 757 goals in 831 games, although Santos claim his tally was closer to 1,000.

BAYELSA MAN ABSCONDS FROM MARRIAGE CEREMONY OVER INCESSANT DEMANDS.

Drama as bridegroom walks out of engagement ceremony in Imo State due to extortion.

He paid N1,500,000 to cater for food, tents, chairs and a public address system.

He was also made to set aside N100,000 as the bride price that the two families had agreed on.

Biobelemoye David was asked to add N50,000 to the bride price because he had already impregnated the girl.

He was slapped with a N10,000 fine for making a detour to the wrong path and ending up in a different homestead other than the girl's.

He was also asked to pay N15,000 to appease the elders who had become tired of waiting for his arrival.

Drama however ensued when twelve girls covered in loose robes from head to toe were paraded before Biobelemoye David and he was asked to guess who his fiancée was.

He pointed at the wrong woman and that led to yet another fine of N15,000.

The decisive moment specifically was when the elders demanded for a refund of the total sum of N850,000 that had been paid as the girl's school fees and upkeep since she started primary school!

Fuming with anger which he tried his best to hide, Biobelemoye David excused himself to visit a nearby latrine and disappeared!

He switched off his phone and was last seen at a bus heading to Bayelsa State from Imo.

PRESIDENT BUHARI READY TO CAMPAIGN FOR TINUBU AND ALL APC CANDIDATES WITH ENERGY AND CONVICTION

President Muhammadu Buhari assures the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in the elections next year that he is ready at all times to campaign for the Presidential Candidate and all party candidates with “full energy and conviction.”

This is to dispel expressed concerns in certain quarters that the President has not featured in campaigns since the national launch in Jos, Plateau State and to stress that while he remains committed to party politics, the functions and duties of the President will equally be upheld at times.

Speaking to the Nigerian community in Washington DC in the course of his recent visit to the United States, President Buhari stressed what he said all the time that he is ready to campaign for the party’s victory in the general elections next year.

The President noted that the APC campaigns have so far been the most aggressive in recent history. “They have been impressive and of a high voltage,” compared to the opposition that seems to be playing catch-up.

He expressed strong optimism that the party will win all the elections fairly and squarely.

Yesterday, George Weah, the absentee President of Liberia , finally made it back home , 48 days since he left the country to watch his son play at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

A day before his return, hundreds of protesters supported by the opposition, gathered in Monrovia to protest against soaring costs of living.

Weah’s trip to Qatar attracted great criticism from opposition politicians who said it offered no tangible benefit to Liberia .“We can’t find any political leader anywhere in the world who has stayed away for this length of time [for non-health reasons],” said Alexander B Cummings, presidential candidate of the Collaborating Political Parties, a coalition of opposition parties, which will face Weah in next year’s elections.

Weah’s office responded by claiming that the president's trip was beneficial to the country, citing his meeting with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, in Doha where he secured a verbal commitment for the funding of a highway in Liberia described as “critical national infrastructure”.

Independence Day Celebration

Tanzania Cancels Independence Day Celebration, To Use $445k Budget For School Dormitories

Tanzania's president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has canceled Independence Day celebrations scheduled to hold this Friday, December 9.

Hassan directed that the budget for the 61st Independence Day event which was $445,000, be used to build dormitories for children with special needs.

The money will be used to build eight dormitories in primary schools around the country.

Tanzania's minister of state, George Simbachawene, on Monday said the money had been disbursed. He said the East African country will celebrate Independence Day by having public dialogues on development.

Previous Tanzanian governments have repeatedly canceled the celebration. In 2015, then-President John Magufuli canceled celebrations and diverted funds towards the building of a road in the commercial capital, Dar es Salaam.

In 2020, he did the same and directed that the budget be used to buy medical facilities.

I Have Told PDP You Must Apply, Pay The Money We Will Alllow You Hold Your Rally - Wike To PDP

River State governor and a member of the G-5 governors, Nyesom Wike today's Tuesday 6th December 2022: has debunked the news that he won't allow politicians hold their rally in the state.

In of a meeting with some members of his party members and stakeholders in the state, he endorsed the PDP gubernatorial candidate of River State, as he urge indigenes of the state to vote for him and his deputy. While saying this, he revealed that he will only campaign for politicians who asked him to campaign for them.

Going further. He said, he heard people saying he never want them to campaign, which he never said so.

Reacting to this he said, "What we are saying is that if you want to use our primary school, secondary school, apply and pay money for security, so that when you destroy or dirty the place government can now come and clean up that place. We are not saying that you are not entitled to use a place for rally and I have told PDP, you must apply, pay the money and we go and then we will allow you hold your rally."
