Just wanted to let you know I am still here - and I have been perving on my future candidates from afar.
I did have someone lined up and then, you know, covid.
And I try to balance this project with my other life happenings.
But there are more episodes comin baby!
Catch up on all the episodes in the mean time!
See you soon 😎

Episode 7 Snippet
Jess / Way speaking on the importance of restoring the feminine in order to bring healing to the world.
You can find the full episode on the YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5fJT7efnv0

What absolutely astounds me at this time of the corona virus, is that our whole preception and understanding of food and the food system has been reduced to, 'Oh crap I got to get to coles or woolies' or 'wow we are so thankful for the people stacking the shelves'. We seem to have no idea or comprehension what is coming in regards to our food security. This crisis is an opportunity to realise why it is absolutely vital to be moving towards ways of eating that are healing for us, the Earth and to look after our communities. Food needs to be community focused - not global.

I don't usually share full episodes on social media as I would prefer people to go to youtube and invest in the whole episode and not just scroll, look for 2 seconds and then scroll on.
But I feel called to really spread this message around food and our food security. May raises crucial points in her story but also presents simple solutions. But why can simple solutions be so hard to implement?
So please consider taking the time today to listen to her full message andher inspiring story.

Episode 7
Jess: Return of the Feminine
Now up! Link in bio.
In this episode, I speak with Jess and explored the following:
- her study as a clinical psychologist and why she doesn’t practice in your usual way
- why connecting with the feminine is important for individual and global healing (doesn’t matter if you are male or female, this still applies)
- her experience as a humanitarian worker
- her journey through domestic violence to becoming a solo mum
- why she established Dorothy Way, what it is and why this work is important
- vulnerability and why it is important
- and more
Jess speaks beautifully to all these aspects and she has so many messages I wish the whole world could hear. What does she wish the world knew? Well you will have to wait until the end!
This episode goes for 29 minutes.
Thank you so much to Jess for opening up and doing this with me.

‘People are inherently bad’
What saddened me over the past couple of weeks, is that we added to this story of people being bad and selfish deep down. A story I am trying to interrupt.
Fear does some crazy things, but it’s not the essence of who we are. But the more we tell ourselves that humans are s**t, well, that is the story we will continue to play out.
This is why stories of love and our true essence are as important as ever.
Do you think humans are bad at their core? Sometimes I think ‘most’ people are good. It’s those exceptions that really challenge me.
But when I look at babies and children, I see that we were all born with this loving essence and that it is still within us all.

INTERVIEW NO. 7/ MENTAL HEALTH APPROACHES IN OUR PATRIARCHAL SYSTEM / FEMININE
In the lead up to filming tomorrow, I wanted to share some thoughts with you. Tomorrow I am filming my interview number 7 and I wanted to share some of the thought process I go through when coming up to an interview. I also touch on my experience seeking help from a psychologist and how that made me feel. Please get involved in the conversation. This is an exploration. The whole project is an exploration. Join in the convo with me. (Sorry about that annoying bit of mascara on my face, hope you can see past that.)

Interview 6 with Super Average Person, Kyanne, is now up!
‘There are so many new jobs and industries that need to be created and Kyanne says that, more than ever, people are seeking out ways they can align their gifts and what drives them, with their work and their dream for a better world. Kyanne believes in putting our energy into what we want to create rather than into the status quo and things that aren’t working.’
Read blog post from link in bio or here https://www.superaveragepeople.com/home/what-do-you-want-to-be-when-you-grow-up
From previous post:
I was particularly drawn to Kyanne when I met her 12 months ago at a Pachamama Alliance event. There was a bunch of us trying to understand what problems exactly the world was facing, how we could turn it around and how individually we might be able to contribute. I became intrigued by her when she started talking about seeds and protecting our rights to non-GMO, heirloom seeds.

Later on, I discovered she was a career counsellor, which was at the same time that I was starting to develop a deep connection to concepts that involve aligning our personal gifts and passions to create a more beautiful world. I was starting to feel, more than ever, the deep need for us to self-inquire, really feel into the beauty around us, discover what matters to us and what we love and using this to move forward in all areas of our life.

Around the time of starting this Super Average People project, Kyanne informed me she was going to step out and offer her own career counselling venture with a Green Guidance component to it. I got tingly upon hearing this and was so excited to explore more of her story, what career counselling is, what common themes are with people when it comes to career and doing what they love and how this can contribute to healing in the world.

So this week I am (finally) releasing my sixth Super Average People story. This is my first written one. This story features Kyanne. My schedule for episodes this year will be fortnightly. I also hope to regularly release snippets from different interviews at different times on different topics. I will be holding an event later in the year for Super Average People where I will be inviting the people I have interviewed and anyone else that is interested and I will be discussing what I have learned from my interviews up to that date. You will be able to mingle with the Super Average people and see how they are doing. I will also be incorporating revisits with past interviewees.
I would really like for you to engage whether it’s encouraging the Super Average People, commenting on topics and themes, nominating people etc.

Scale of importance
1. Money / Profit
2. Rich people
3. Middle class
4. Poor people
5. Animals and land
Once we have finished sacrificing the animals and land, who do you think will be next?
Until we see everything as equal and connected we will never get out of these catastrophic times. It’s a cultural values issue - and we can’t expect government to have a change of heart on how they view these things, if we haven’t changed within our own hearts.
There is truly enough for everyone if we moved away from the feeling of needing to hoard and consume. Greed = scarcity. The fear of never having enough. And so it goes on and on and on.

Maybe this is all that matters. When life is all done and dusted, was what you created beautiful?
Maybe it’s the beauty of the essence in which you approached life.
Maybe it’s the children you brought into the world.
Maybe it’s the garden you grew.
Maybe it’s your dedication to a better world.
Maybe it’s the way you transformed heartache into gifts.
What do you think?

Episode 5 now live!
Cheryl- The Pilgrimage of Life: Personal Healing for Ecological Healing.
This is my mum’s story and this is very relevant to me. The person I am today is largely due to her story and the gifts I have received from her life pilgrimage.
After a difficult childhood, Cheryl found herself looking for love and belonging in the wrong places. Her journey continued through domestic violence and being a single mother to four children. She has turned her pain into gifts and now has devoted her life to giving back to others who now need her support and most recently raising awareness around grief and climate change. This episode includes:
- Her journey with domestic violence
- Becoming a single mum to four children while trying to heal herself
- Loving anyway
- Forgiveness and hope
- The constant desire to grow and to do better
- Pivotal moments of support she received
- Giving even when you feel you have nothing to give
- Why it’s important to love everything about yourself including the dark parts
- Walking the Camino pilgrimage and what this taught her
- How personal healing directly relates to ecological healing
- Stepping out with her new counselling business and offering her gifts to create a more beautiful world
- And so much more

DEATH & GRIEF
I know it’s counter-cultural, but I won’t be staying clear of these topics.
We need to develop the capacity to hold and feel the grief all around us. That’s the only way you can start making change.
And because when you deny death - you deny life (hello collective ecocide).
I think about death daily and with it comes intense anxiety and also frustration that we live in a culture that is death scared. But I am grateful that this fear visits me daily because I am checking in every day with whether or not I am living my fullest.
We touched on death in episode 2, and I recently did another interview 100% on death. I am so grateful for what I have learnt about death from those conversations. They are helping me process my feelings around death, loss, grief and life.

Episode 4 May: Closed Loop Farming

There were so many reasons I felt the need to document May. I want people to feel empowered from her story and I want people to understand the direness of our food system. There are so many issues from the way we grow and dispose of food that are causing the biggest problems of our time. We eat food all day long – it is so interweaved into our lives. When something comes along with lots of problems…. it means that also with that comes so many opportunities to change and to do better.

May is an incredible, beautiful, funny and contagious young woman. She is currently operating a closed loop farm where she diverts food waste destined for landfill into nutrient dense compost which she then grows food in. We touched on:

- How as a 24 year old she has already realised the disconnect that is our current culture and making efforts to change this
- How she is someone who could quite easily be labelled as young, female and unknowledgeable but that’s not how she views it
- Her willingness to go around asking people for their waste because she just gets so excited about turning this food waste in something beautiful
- Making a commitment to a long term issue which she will not necessarily see any measurable results from
- Her outlook on money, class, gender
- How she formed her beliefs to find out what she truly believes
- Creativity & farming
- Learning patience and surrender when it comes to something like working with nature
- Using closed loop methods
- Balancing urgency with long term change
- What the root cause of these problems are
- What we need to overcome and educate ourselves on to overcome these problems
- What establishing Full Circle Farm has been like for her
- Her connection to mother nature
- Her love for community
- Being part of the change and where she finds hope

I have always felt like I have so much that I want to share and express. But I have struggled with feeling like a weirdo and feeling like there is already too much noise - the last thing the world needs is more noise... I have found putting this project out there, contacting people to see if I can interview them and speaking into the camera the most terrifying and vulnerable experience. But it’s helping me own who I am and what I believe in. I am very grateful for this project.
We live in a time where it is crucial we get out of our comfort zones.

Episode 4:
May
Turning A Problem Into A Solution
May is not your typical 24 year old. She spends most her of days taking care of her beloved compost as part of her Full Circle Farm project. Food waste that goes into landfill creates numerous issues and negative effects. Meanwhile, our soil health is depleting creating another host of issues. When food waste is composted and added back to the land, it nourishes the soil.
She is taking a waste product which leads to nothing but negative effects on the environment and applying an incredibly simple approach of composting to turn this waste into a valuable asset. One simple task, healing so many problems.
May is a courageous young woman who is connected with her heart. I hope my daughters have her courage, connection and outlook on life when they are 24.
I was curious to know:
- what led May down this path
- what her outlook on life is
- why this is such a simple but complex issue
- what her idea of a more beautiful world is
- and more
This is an incredibly insightful and inspiring interview which we can all take something from.
I look forward to sharing this with you over the coming days.

Episode 3 Now Up!
Asher: Gentle Fathering For A More Beautiful World
‘If you want to change the world, go home and love your family’
Mother Theresa
Asher is a well known plant based chef who is doing amazing work with our broken food / health systems - but it’s being a present and loving father that is most important to him in creating a better world. In this episode Asher talks about:
- his experiences of being a birthing partner
- why his daily life revolves around his daughters
- the difficulties and pressures for men with earning money as being the priority over being present
- how he views the parents role
- and more
I hope you enjoy this beautiful episode.

Episode 3
Asher: Gentle Fathering For A More Beautiful World
I didn’t go far to find the next super average person. He is beside me everyday, my husband. Asher is a well known chef, but that’s not who he is.
We have the deepest conversations together all the time - there isn’t a topic that we haven’t pulled apart and analysed together. We are always challenging each other to grow and to become more connected and loving humans.
In this weeks episode Asher shares what his life is like as a father and husband. He talks about how who he is and how what he does right now revolves around being a present father. You are enough just by being a present father.
I am a big advocate for changing how we parent in order to create a more beautiful world.
I look forward to sharing this episode with you in the coming days.

Episode 2 Snippet
Christina: Birthing in a new way of being
If we changed the way we viewed women, birth and parenting, it would be impossible to not treat each other and nature with the same reverance. A woman who births and mothers in her power has so much to offer this world. Here is a snippet of Christina's story. You can catch the full episode at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32D7qgm3sB8

I did a really hard interview this week. Not hard in a bad way. It was just gut wrenching and I have been feeling it deeply in every cell of my body. It was such an honour and I feel like I have been in a trance ever since. They may or may not choose to share their video. And that’s okay because half the reason I am doing these videos is as a gift for them to see how incredible they are.
But I am definitely feeling her words.... ALL YOU HAVE IS NOW.
This moment. It’s all you have.

Episode 2 – Now Available
I sat down with Christina this week and was so grateful with how vulnerable she was willing to go with telling her story. I was really moved by her outlook on life, birth, death and everything in between. She shared:
Why she was drawn to midwifery
What breaks her heart about the current birth culture
Why losing her mum was the most profound experience she has ever had
How viewing women, birth and death differently could transform our world
How she views the world
Her plans to uproot her family so she can find herself even more
Why she believes life is beautiful

This episode goes for 19 minutes (reduced down from 50 minutes of discussion) so every single minute is filled with beauty and wisdom and I recommend waiting until you can kick back and relax and really take it in. It can be easy in this fast paced world to just take bite size pieces of content which reduce the meaning of something.

Christina is a woman who knows and embraces her power. She is a registered midwife, Mum, partner, nature lover, people addicted being who is known in her community for encouraging real-ness and connection.
She runs groups such as birth conversations, women’s circles and playgroups and always has her hand up to help her community. Christina can hold space for anyone - she knows how to love people unconditionally because she sees the true, beautiful essence of people and the life around her. When I sat down with Mads we talked about her big act of love - Patched Up Homewares
Devastated by the amount of clothing and fabric waste that unnecessary goes to land fill - she looked at the waste and knew that she had the skills and determination to give the waste another chance at life. She spends her time creating beautiful homewares that are keeping this waste from landfill.
When I am finished having babies, I am going to get her to repurpose my favourite baby outfits into a big, beautiful basket!

Here is an update on the project as we wait for episode 2 to drop next week!

11/11/2019

All of the problems that exist in our world such as ecological destruction, climate change, abuse, homelessness, poverty etc are symptoms of a deeper root cause of brokenness and lack of connection to each other and nature. Our feeling of separateness and our intense feelings of scarcity. We need healing on so many different levels – not just focusing on one issue. If we don’t foster healing at the root cause, we will continue to create problems such as these. For example, imagine if every child was truly loved and provided for? Would we treat each other and our planet in the way that we do? This isn’t as obvious as planting a tree, but it’s just as crucial.
We all have a unique story, unique passions and unique gifts that can be used towards any of these issues, and ultimately foster healing as a whole. We can do small of acts of love every day which have immeasurable consequences. Just like small acts of fear can have immeasurable consequences. We cannot compare the effect of a small household composting to a business making a mega donation to ‘fight’ a cause. In an age where productivity and fame are the measures of success or progress, I would like to challenge and explore the concept that small acts of irrational and immeasurable love can change the world more than we could imagine.
What if we could not only get through the issues of our time, but we could actually bring forth an even more beautiful world. Just like in our personal life when we endure a life lesson and turn it into something beautiful, we can do the same on a global level. In a time where I regularly feel powerless, I need to believe this is possible.
I want to show you that being average is super. I want to take you on a journey venturing into peoples lives and showing you the power and beauty of the average person.
I want to create understanding and connection through the question ‘what is it like to be you’? Even if we disagree with someone how can we still connect to them and know that we can still love and respect each other. It is important to be able to hold space for people we disagree with otherwise we will not be able to heal the world.

What is it like to wake up every day and to feel so deeply connected to the mess we are creating from wasted fabric going into landfill? To feel that devastation, and instead of numbing out with a 9-5 job, you decide to be an average person tackling a mammoth problem.
This week I chat to Madeleine. She takes creativity seriously - if she can’t be creative - forget about it! We learn how she uses this to contribute to a more beautiful world, how she feels about the state of the world and what gives her hope and happiness.
What is harder? Trying to heal the problems of our world? Or work a 9-5 job?
Keep an eye out for the video this Monday!
