Ready for your road trip? Which podcasts are you picking?
The Guardian ‘Podcasts of the Week’ features Operation Morning Light: “I might pick Kosmos 954, a nuclear-powered Soviet spy satellite. It’s the subject of Operation Morning Light, a captivating retelling of the time (1978) when this radioactive satellite fell to earth in one of the most remote and unspoilt parts of the world, the Northwest Territories of Canada. Host Dëneze Nakehk’o of the Dene, an Indigenous people, has a lovely tone, there’s some excellent soundscaping and archive work, and this story gradually unfolds from dreaminess into foreboding. An investigative podcast a la Fargo.”
State prosecutor Shane Phelps takes justice into his own hands in the capital murder cases against eight men and women who are accused of kidnapping and killing Kelly Wilson.
Listen to “Courtroom Drama” - Chapter 6 of Devil Town.
Host .kipe looks into the details of a 50-year-old unsolved triple homicide as details come to light that finally close the case. Billy Sunday Birt and Georgia’s “Dixie Mafia” are held responsible, but is that the whole story?
Listen to the season 2 premiere of - “Brutal,
Savage, Senseless.”
In 1977, the Soviet Union launches a new espionage satellite—Cosmos 954—but soon after launch, its orbit starts to wobble. The question isn’t if it’s going to crash, but when. In a top secret laboratory, American scientists rush to find out where the disaster will take place.
Travel way up north with us and listen to “War Game” - Chapter 2 of Operation Morning Light.

Listen to “Legacy” - Chapter 9 of Elizabeth the First
Indictments for the murder of Kelly Wilson are based on the witness statements of a young boy who said he took part in unspeakable crimes.
That boy is now an adult and he shares his story in the latest episode of Devil Town.
Listen to Episode 5 - Raymond.
Operation Morning Light — out now wherever you get your podcasts!
Bet you didn’t know that high above earth’s orbit in the 1970s, the Soviets launched a nuclear powered spy satellite. And it fell to earth, initially projected to strike New York City or maybe even London.
As the satellite disintegrated, it scattered dangerously radioactive debris across the vast traditional lands of the Dene, Métis, and Inuit in the Northwest Territories of Canada. Operation Morning Light tells the story of the Cosmos 954 disaster, its impact on the land, and the resilience of the communities in the debris field.
Four decades later, Dëneze Nakehk'o, a Denesuline and Dehcho Dene father from Denendeh investigates what really happened in 1978, and discovers the impact of that event still happening in local communities today.
From Imperative Entertainment and , this is Operation Morning Light.
Episode 1 available now. Apple Podcast subscribers to the channel can get Episode 2 early and ad-free right now.

In episode 4 of “The Paddlefish Caviar Heist,” we get into the guts of Operation Roadhouse, and why this became a multi-year undercover sting operation. Things are about to get real gnarly in this episode (spoiler: there’s a vodka fueled knife fight by the lake) and more than a few nail biting moments🔪 🩸 🌙
You’ll get to learn the disturbing story behind this photo. Swipe through to see one of the kitschy (and beautiful) paintings from the Missouri Department of Conservation’s HQ office in Jefferson City.
Enjoy episode 4, wherever you get your podcasts (or click my link in bio). As always, grateful for

Michael Chapel—a former police officer—has been in prison for 29 years. He was convicted of the brutal murder of Emogene Thompson that took place in 1993.
There are folks who are convinced he’s innocent, and he claims that he is. There are those who are convinced he’s guilty.
Throughout the course of the podcast, I was convinced of both, at various times, while listening.
Ladies and gents, Sean Kipe knows how to tell a good story. You may remember my review of “In the Red Clay.” (I actually had to go back and change that rating to a 5/5. It’s one of the best podcasts I’ve heard.) Same host. I just love how he presents information and draws the listener in.
Also, he creates all of the music too. The music you’re hearing is from “In the Red Clay.”
Have you listened to it? Let me know what you think. Without giving away the ending, tell me how you feel.
It’s a good one. You won’t be disappointed.

As part of Elizabeth Taylor’s courageous leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS, she provided that a portion of revenue from her name and likeness rights, which includes her fragrance empire, goes to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
Episode 7 of Elizabeth the First, “Empire” now available.
