Upriver. Today no rain but the water is flowing. Love our waterfall.
Nice weather yesterday. A month early and my bees very active bringing in pollen. Hope you are all staying ahead of your game and treated for the varroa. Big healthy hives need lots of attention.
A bit of my history: This year was really rough on our local beekeepers and their bees. Many local beekeepers lost their hives. To cold, to wet, for to long. When I first started beekeeping the old timers of the area who had bees before the varroa showed up (late 1980's) would come to talk to me. I think they were fascinated that I am a woman beekeeper and do all of my own work. They would sit and talk about the area and keeping bees. The one thing I never forgot was they told me the damp and moisture will take down a hive faster than any disease in this area. Please, please, please if you have bees learn about the varroa and pay attention to winter bee biology in your area. Don't let the wet cold winters and very late springs that can happen in this area take you by suprise. Always prepare. Timing is very important. Stay ahead of your game.
