1️⃣ Make sure that your monitor is calibrated properly to guarantee precision on the color correction process. This could completely make or break your video.
2️⃣ Place adjustment layers on each specific section and then tweak clips individually, this will guarantee consistency among sequences.
3️⃣ ALWAYS do curves first if you’re working on Log footage.
4️⃣ Try to avoid going too far with each effect. Sometimes, less is more, and a subtle approach can be more effective when it comes to improving visual quality of your video without distracting the spectator.
5️⃣ Rest your eyes, as soon as you finish, take a few hours and then watch your video again, this will allow you to catch a few corrections that you weren’t able to see during the process.
6️⃣ Experiment and let your color grading speak for itself!

A few of the shots we color graded for last week’s video “The First Month of a Great Year”. For this video we wanted to capture through composition and color how January usually feels like, we wanted to experiment with hard light and mostly still shots. The most important part was to make the viewer feel that despite we are all on completely different locations and contexts, we are all feeling the same.We all had different locations, different light and different gear, so it was a bit tricky to match all tones.
