It seems like an oxymoron to say “count it all joy” when you’re faced with trials, testings and temptations in this life. When we go through something difficult, joy is the last emotion we think of when faced with difficult situations. We shouldn’t pretend to be happy when we face pain, but we can have a positive outlook because troubles can strengthen and develop our character. Those challenging times help us to grow, learn and build endurance in this walk with Christ.
We were never promised a life free from hardship, but when we press into Christ during those difficult times, our faith is strengthened and you’ll come out on the other end stronger and more sure of your faith than ever before.
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”
James 1:2-4 NLT
