Oh hey 👋🏻 it’s been awhile…

Like many other educators, the start to the school year has been challenging for both of us. Kyla has been pulled to sub in multiple classes. I missed several days due to my daughter getting sick. Not to mention all the positive cases and quarantines across our school and district. To be honest, we both have been just barely surviving. So we haven’t really been putting this podcast first.

BUT…I am taking my maternity leave and the rest of the school year off to pursue my passions to find my purpose. Which means more time to dedicate to the podcast 🥳

We have some exciting things coming soon!! We are going to be working on doing some rebranding with a new logo, podcast name, and a website. Stay tuned for all our new updates! 🎙✨

After a bit of a delay, Episode 20 is finally live!

In is a two-part series, we reflect on what made this 2020-2021 school year so defining.

Really excited to share this honest conversation about teacher burnout. Let's keep this conversation going

In this week’s episode, we are going to dig into a topic we have alluded to before, teacher burnout. On the surface teacher burnout looks like exhaustion and leaving the profession. While those are parts of it, we want to look deeper into it.Teach...

We were lucky to get to chat with Scott Girard from the The Capital Times about how this idea started and grew! Can't wait to keep sharing more episodes with our local community.

The pair of Leopold Elementary School educators started the podcast in December.

We finally got another episode for you all! Once again, we ended up changing our original plans and pivoted to have a different discussion. Ep. 6 involves a true reflection of us processing our district's recent announcement to reopen our school buildings. We're curious what you all think!

Once again, our plans shifted, and we decided to record something a little different. We took some needed time to talk about our district's recent announcement to reopen our schools. We have been closed since March, so we are just starting to wrap...

✨episode 3✨⠀

In light of the events of January 6th, we wanted to pivot from the original episode we had planned for this week. We felt that it was important to talk about what our experiences are like as teachers on the “day after.” This episode is not to focus on the specific events, but for us to reflect on the effect this has on teachers. We want to talk about the experience of teachers processing national events for ourselves personally and professionally.⠀

We call BS on self care in PD and being told to do it, but really we love self care on 👏🏻 our 👏🏻 terms 👏🏻⠀

Yesterday, I took a social media break as a form of self care. I didn’t post. I barely scrolled. It felt refreshing. Social media tends to heighten a lot of my emotions, making my anxiety spin out of control. ⠀

A social media break, an early bedtime, and journaling helped me feel a little like myself. â €

Have you been told to practice self care by someone? â €
â €
We asked this in our stories earlier today. There was an overwhelming YES! â €

Why does administration feel the need to tell us to practice self care on top of all the other things they are asking to do?! It’s like here’s a list of 30 things you need to do. But make sure you practice self care too! ⠀

If you’ve ever been told to practice self care you’re not alone! ⠀
