The United States and the European Union are weighing sanctions in two phases if Kosovo fails to de-escalate tensions in the north according to an Euronews Albania leak.

Phase 1 involves freezing EU & US funds and projects, visa liberalization, and more.

Phase 2 could see reduced international military presence and exclusion from organizations.

Individual sanctions against PM Kurti and Minister Sveçla are also on the table.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the deployment of the Serbian army on the border with Kosovo. Speaking at the GLOBSEC forum in Slovakia Rama said that the Serbian army in Kosovo’s borders has no powers.

“This is the most incredible show of internal politics because the Serbian army in Kosovo’s border has a power that equals zero. It is the same as if the Mexican army would appear in the borders with the United States. What can it do? Absolutely nothing. This is only related to internal politics.”

She expressed her complete solidarity with Ukraine.

This marks the first-ever meeting between a leader from Kosovo and President Zelensky.

The American ambassador to Kosovo, Jeff Hovenier, has officially confirmed that Kosovo has been excluded from the "Defender 23" exercise as a punitive measure in response to recent developments in the northern Kosovo.

The United States will also cease its support for Kosovo's endeavors to gain new recognition and integration into international organizations.

Hovenier added that he expects no readiness for visits of Kosovo officials to the USA and vice versa.

Kosovo's government has taken the decision to officially end the Covid-19 emergency.

Kosovo had declared a public health emergency in mid-March 2020.

As of now, Kosovo has reported 3,217 COVID-19 related deaths, with 273,934 individuals being affected by the virus.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Kosovo has administered a total of 1,836,901 vaccine doses as of January 15, 2023.

Kosovo is almost ready to file a genocide suit against Serbia said Kosovo Parliament Chairman Glauk Konjufca.

Speaking after a meeting of the Parliament Presidency, Konjufca said the genocide charges are being drafted in consultation with experts.

"I can’t say the exact month but I do know that a big job has been done so far. We consulted the most significant experts, people who know about drafting an expert suit against Serbia for genocide over the people of Kosovo".

🇽🇰 Kosovo Minister of Culture and Sports Hajrullah Çeku stated on his Twitter account that Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic cannot enter Kosovo without being vaccinated.

This statement comes in response to Djokovic expressing his intention to baptize his children in Kosovo and referring to the country as "the heart of Serbian culture & religion."

The tennis player missed several major tennis tournaments due to his anti-COVID vaccine stance.

🇦🇱 Over 1.1 million Albanian voters participated in the local elections.

Socialist Party won 53 out of 61 Municipalities, including the capital Tirana and all major municipalities.

In Tirana, Erion Veliaj won 54.69% of the vote and will serve a third mandate as Mayor of Tirana.

Kosovo's ranking in the 2023 World Press Freedom Index has improved to 56 out of 180 countries, an improvement of five places from last year, according to the latest report released by global media watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF)

In the Balkans, North Macedonia and Montenegro had the highest rankings, while Turkey ranked 165 out of 180 countries, one position below Russia.

School shooting in Belgrade, Serbia:

A 14-year-old student killed eight students and a security guard, marking the first mass shooting in the country in a decade. At least six students and a teacher were also wounded. Police arrested the shooter.

Serbia ranks third in the world in terms of civilian gun ownership. In response to this tragic event, the Serbian President has announced plans to introduce stricter gun control regulations.

Vetëvendosje me 44 gra në listën e saj, prinë me numrin më të madh të grave në garën për deputete.

Më pas radhitet AAK me 34, kurse PDK dhe LDK kanë përfshirë vetëm 33 gra në listat e tyre, apo 30%, minimumi i mundshëm që obligohet me ligj.
