Promoting your podcast is crucial for building an audience.

A secret method that works for me is posting behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage or pictures of the interview.

I mean think about it…

When you see a Hollywood movie getting made, they may share 2 different trailers and the first few minutes of the movie.

A lot of the content that is shared is BTS stills and footage. At the time of writing this, James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy just started filming, and social media is blowing up with images from the set.

Yet…we haven’t seen any clips of the actual film.

So why should you spend time finding the best spots in your episode, editing it for shortform content, posting it, and getting almost zero response?

Here’s what you do: Post a picture of yourself and your guest from a 3rd person perspective. Even if you’re not on camera, put one of your tools –camera, laptop, mic, or lights in the frame of the picture (the reason why the light is my favorite is that we tend to see the light, but never the source of the light).

Doing this feels as if the viewer is in the room with you.

Your first episode, is your worst episode...

Everything after that can only go up.

We think that if we get the best camera, mics, and lights, our ideas will reach 1,000,000 well...everything, before the 10th episode drops.

But...that's RARELY the case.

Most times, we need to see if our ideas have a firm substance to stand upon before we proceed with our grand vision.

I can make a sandcastle in no time, but it won't stand for a second once the tide washes in.

But if I spend time chipping away at a cliff face for a few months, the sea can baptize it for centuries and it'll still preserve the Dead Sea Scrolls.
