Raja is a four-day-long festival dedicated to Mother Earth (Bhuma Devi) and womanhood at large. The first day is Sajabaja, the day when girls decorate hands and feet with Alta or Mehendi and get ready for the four-day-long carnival. 

Odisha is the only state that celebrates Menstruation..🌼🌼

The day sajabaja not only defines makeup atrtistry of girls, it also has some more beautiful facts which every Odia household do. The day before first day is called Sajabaja or preparatory day during which the house, kitchen including grinding stones are cleaned, spices are ground for three days. All the cutting, grinding, washing, cleaning works are done because next three days these works are not to be done. During these three days women and girls take rest from work and wear new Saree, Alata, and ornaments.

Lets know what is the fact behind celebrating menstruation--::❤
🌼As women menstruate, which is a sign of fertility, so also Mother Earth menstruates. So all three days of the festival are considered to be the menstruating period of Mother Earth. During the festival all agricultural operations remain suspended. As a mark of respect towards the Earth during her menstruation days, all agricultural works comes to a standstill during these days. Significantly, it is a festival of the unmarried girls, the potential mothers. They all observe the restrictions prescribed for a menstruating woman.

Yes, it is Chhenapoda Dibasa today, 11th April, the birthday of the sweet dish which is celebrated on the birth anniversary of its creator, Sudarshan Sahu.

The sweet and succulent Chhenapoda, which has tickled the taste bud of every Odia, has a reason to smile at itself today. It's its birthday.

This mouth watering sweet was invented accidentally by Sudarshan Sahu, who owned a sweet shop at Dasapalla in Nayagarh, left sugar-infused chhena or cottage cheese with cardamon and cashew seasonings in a charcoal oven overnight and discovered an exquisitely delicious delicacy, which gave Odisha a distinct identity and flavour the next morning.

Chhena Poda is no doubt one of the best state’s sweet and the showstopper dessert among Odia sweet dishes with takers all over the world. It is also offered to Lord Jagannath at Srimandira in Puri. And there has been a demand for a GI tag for the sweet dish.

And we say Rasogolla Aamara and Chhenapoda bhi Aamara😊✌️
