This is important. I’ve spent many conversations working really hard to avoid inserting my own experiences on a topic into a conversation to refrain from making it “about me”. Truth is, that’s not the aim. It’s just excitement to be able to relate to someone.

To those who have recently liked the page, I thank you! It means a lot!

I myself, knew very little about ADHD for most of my life, and I was living with it. If I didn’t know what it was about, how can others understand it without actually studying the field?

My aim is to show you the world through the eyes of someone with ADHD. Some hilarious, some concerning. I want to create a better understanding of ADHD for those who may be interested in learning about it in small doses.

I hope to help inform others about ADHD and what it feels like to live with it along with how it affects the brain (or for the official term - “sciencey stuff”). The pros and cons so to speak.

There’s also a streaming aspect to ADHDecent. Yeah, doesn’t really tie into the rest but I love gaming and if you’re into gaming too you might find the streams somewhat amusing! Don’t worry, that’s over on Twitch so I won’t be bombarding your timeline with posts every hour!

So thank you for stopping by. I hope you’ll consider it worth checking out! ❤️

Did You Know?
Channing Tatum has ADHD. “You get put in the typical classes and you say “alright, I’m obviously not like these kids either” so you’re kind of nowhere. The system is broken”

Actor Channing Tatum reflects on childhood and how ADHD and dyslexia made his school years difficult. He says “the system is broken.”

Research suggests that Leonardo da Vinci may have had ADHD. Turns out he frequently left work unfinished, jumped between projects and barely slept.

It's suggested the disorder could explain his immense achievements in art and sciences

Professor Marco Catani suggests the best explanation for Leonardo da Vinci's inability to finish his works is that the great artist may have had Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder.

Did You Know?

ADHD & Autism share the same genes. A mutation in the MAP1A gene that is involved in the formation of the physical structure of nerve cells means you are 15 times more likely of developing ADHD and/or Autism.

Researchers have found that autism and ADHD share changes in the same genes. The new knowledge relates directly to the biological causes of the two child psychiatric disorders.

Being in a position where you know you have something to do and not being able to do it is such a horrible feeling.

I often need to clean, tidy or complete tasks and it almost actually hurts me not to do them and yet I cannot bring myself to do them. So I will sit and freak out about not doing said tasks. I can’t relax while they’re not completed so logically it makes sense to get them done and yet I can’t do it. Instead I will sit, worry, get physically nauseous and worked up to the point of exhaustion.

Trying to explain this is quite difficult and often comes across as me being lazy or I hear this a lot “ah well no one wants to do them it’s just part of being an adult”. It can be tricky at times...

Speaking of sidetracked... This is the result of having to tidy and organise boxes from storage...

I found a box of Knex pieces and within 2 hours had built this based on no diagrams or instructions just me and my thoughts. Not what I set out to do but interesting to see my creativity take form.

I then continued with the original task and haven’t touched Knex since...

Ahh side quests... I look for the next entertaining thing that’ll keep myself stimulated. This could mean getting sidetracked mid-task if it doesn’t retain my interest. I’ll start on one thing and within an hour I’m on something completely unrelated. I’ve found that I’m always looking for more. The lack of fulfilment and satisfaction from anything I do can prove extremely hard hitting.

I’m fortunate to have people around me that know about this and understand. They can see if I get sidetracked and will tell me to come back around again to the task in hand. It’s a small thing but it really helps

So this is me... there’ll be some gaming, some blogging and some general “life with ADHD” stuff. I was 25 years old when I was diagnosed, in my final year of Uni. Confused and disheartened at why I was struggling so much when many around me achieved so much more. But now it’s starting to make sense, and it’s upwards from here.

I had no intention of jet washing this wall but it was oddly satisfying for the few minutes I should have been doing something more practical.
